Good resourceful people of Wazua,

I need your help. I seem to have lost my passport because i have looked everywhere and cant find it....

I will need to be travelling so i definitely need to either find it or start looking for alternatives(and this route seems to be my only hope this far). If i find it, i have no problem. if i dont and which is most likely, then i definitely need to get another. How do i go about this? how much will i be required to pay? how long will it take? Is Nyayo house still notorious of bribery or is the process easy now? do i need to "know" someone for the process to move/speed up? Anyone been there recently?

I will be very grateful.

Bribery or not, you will certainly need to line up for that first stage of application (renewal/lost/stolen). I think this is because you may be getting the new style pp(if you haven't already got one) .... sijui kama ni digital/biometric or something.

In fact there's a sign that indicates something like 'Only Applicants .... to present themselves....'
Jipeleke hapo asubuhi but avoid the first day of the week (half of Nairobi population will be there)
once umelipa you can look for that person you want to bribe (if you insist) or someone you know to speed it up...less than 5 days ...I'd say.

Back in the day if you lost your passport you would have to report to the police and place an advertisement in the classified section of the newspaper. Not sure if it still applies.
Before you can be be old and wise, you must first be young and stupid.

@Wendz, Nyayo House Passport offices have greatly improved their service delivery and efficiency so much so that the hours of service have been extended from: 0700 to 2000 Monday to Friday so I suggest you visit anytime before 0900 or after 1600 if you are scared of the ques. The passport staff are young friendly and very ready to serve you. After battling with poor image at last this Department seems to have made it in improving service delivery atleast on passport front.

here is the PP1 form for your application: http://www.immigration.g...mages/downloads/pp1.pdf please follow the list of requirements listed by kyt.

If you can get a copy of the previous passport it will be very helpful because they will need to invalidate the old passport just in case it falls into wrong hands. You must present yourself in person and only be sure to be served at the designated counters by an Immigration officer because brokers pretending to be "immigration officers" abound, you will be issued with a tracking number for which to use when making inquiries regarding the application. You will also have your photo taken after paying the 10040/= fee and viola! Don't bribe nobody and in case you are asked for a bribe write to: investigation.immigration@yahoo.com.

Loosing your passport used to be a nightmare because there used to be a requirement that the Department needed at least 3 months to make exhaustive investigation about the loss. This was revised but I gather there are so many people "losing" their passports and so many passports in the wrong hands i.e being used by imposters. Also it is no longer a requirement to publish loss in the dailies as this exposed many applicants to con men/women.

Wendz,
Yes, they have really improved and life is generally better.
Once you have filled the relevant forms, it takes a maximum of two weeks and they are open till 7.30pm!!!
....above all, to stand.
