The acceleration and deceleration lanes at the Capital Centre were removed and converted into the third lane of the road. Motorists leaving these premises "jump" directly into the main road where vehicles are moving at an average 80kph to 100kph.

Just what exactly were they thinking? Worst thing is that the exit is also an informal 'stage' and you have to maneuver around the matatus as you simultaneously dodge the cars doing 80kph on the inside lane.

At capital center remember the matatus which stop to pick and drop passengers block the last lane forcing motorists from the center into the middle of the road. I agree that planner needs to be derigistered.

@Impunity

Thanks for the correction. Crossing more than two lanes is not acceptable. Guys forget they are crossing the road at lane 3. Meanwhile Impunity has covered 500 metre in 15 seconds.

Every week accidents kibao! They should build a bridge. The nearest bridge is at the flyover and that is too far!

They build a bridge for who? They dont use no bridges... look at Nyayo stadium bridge. Who uses that? Even mbagathi road... Its just a waste of resources building a bridge that will never be used. That's kenyan style... over the weekend when driving in diani area we noticed there were "bridges" made for the monkeys and baboons and guess what? They also dont use them.... they cross the road anywhere else except the bridges and you have to stop for them or hit their bare behinds... I bet its a kenyan thing...

Tell me any bridge that is effectively used? Including thika road near monetary studies.... or the one at nairobi west madaraka estate....

I have just witnessed a fatal accident near GM, a young life just lost,after a knockdown while crossing the road. i appreciate the effort to avoid a direct crossing from either GM or Cabanas. how many more must die before either a bridge or tunnel is done? what can i, in my capacity as a concerned citizen do? am thinking of mobilizing a demonstaration and blocking of these very dangerous sections. It may be the only language that the concerned authority understands.

For me the worst nightmare on Mombasa road is driving at Night with oncoming trucks blinding me temporarily with their glaring headlights forever on full light. Lets observe the 80 kph limit (especialy at night)

I am made to understand that some of these bridges are the riskiest places in Nairobi!!! You will be mugged in broad day light. You are better of taking chances elsewhere. Then some street urchins have also turned some of them into toilets!

I believe the design of the bridges should be Kenyanized. For one, they should use transparent material ndiyo hata ukiwekwa chini, watu wanaona yanayo endelea. They should also think of other ways of making them more secure - like CCTV.

Experiment of the day: @wendz - Go cross the Mbagathi one after 6:00pm and then report back here.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

For me this is the most irritating behavior on our roads....one of the major causes of road accidents at night. I you have a problem with your eyesight at night go for a check up.

Far too many people do not appear to know or understand the effect driving at night with full beam on has on the driver approaching, or the one being followed. One is easily blinded temporarily good eyesight or not. I'm also sure many guys don't know what is full beam.
At least at night for traffic behind with full beam lights on, one can tilt the mirror a bit to polarize the light from the back.
