@ Guka, very true! I always pray i will know when i have enough. Better still, be like Manu Chandaria, open some charities to use up some of that money...That way it doesn't get to your head..and family...
We have a lot to learn from this.

You should leave your children enough money so they can do anything but not so much that they can do nothing.

By setting up an array of businesses - butcheries, slaughter house, real estate etc., putting his time in their management and most importantly, not eating 2,500/= lunches - if you know what I mean. This dude personally supervised construction of his buildings "fundi wasiibe simiti". These might sound stupid and stingy but any quantity surveyor will tell you that in Kenya approx. 30% of the cost of a building goes to theft by fundis/foremen/supervisors etc!!! You can research on this. Now if you are doing a 100m building how much do you lose to fundis through theft - both direct and indirect [overpriced items etc.]

@Njungé @MaichBlack very true. I saw a poignant quote at work on how as your wealth grows and grows in size, the only way to keep your soul proportional is to increase and increase the amount you give. Otherwise all of us, you, me, loose ourselves!

And let me tell you, walking on hot coals barefoot will mostly get you burnt. Much like a committed man in the wiles of an unclad beautiful adultress at midnight!

A wise Asian man gave me a pep-talk recently on Maya Moh. You must not underestimate the attachment that comes with wealth!
So strong is its stranglehold that even saints and sages struggle to overcome it.

The wealth aside; I wonder if given a second chance he would live his life the same way he did it the first time round. The last few years in particular seemed miserable.

Is life all about the 'one with the most toys' at the grave wins? That guy could have done with a couple of 2,500/= lunches. Life is not all about accumulation.

One has to strike a balance, and believe me I aint hating because I struggle with this balance all the time.
