The government has started controlling the price of fuel but the oil cartels will not let go of their super normal profits. How will they still make the huge profits, you may ask. Simple. I am very sure most of them will manipulate the fuel dispensing machines to dispense less fuel than indicated on the machine. Unless the government actively involves other agencies like weights and measures and sets very high fines for culprits, I see Kenyans being fleeced kama kawaida. I'll be avoiding independent fuel stations for now just to be on the safe side. Use this thread to share with the rest any fuel stations you have reasons to believe have manipulated their dispensing machines. Just compare volumes for a given amount you spend.

But they still sell the fuel to you only that they have to put it in their container for which you leave a deposit which you get back when you return the container! How does this stop you from buying fuel to burn stuff with? The ones who want to prevent you from buying fuel for other manenos have a very simple policy. No selling fuel in containers - ANY type of container. Either come with your vehicle or forget the fuel!

Nock refused to sell me fuel in a container...said it was a Govt/NCC directive. I don't know how true that is. Bought at KK across the road.
Also Shell will not sell you fuel in a container.

I think you either have a very low opinion of oil companies or you listen to village politics a lot.

1. How many oil majors (Total. Shell or KK) run stations?
2. How will an oil company benefit from shortchanging you at the pump when by that time the company has already sold the fuel to the dealer at made its margin?
3. Do you know that SGS is contracted by Ministry of Energy to do random cheques on all stations checcking for adulteration and calibration?

Regarding selling of fuel in containers, that a request by the GOK thro PIEA that oil companies should desist from selling fuel in jerrycans to reduce incidences of arson.
