This email landed in my inbox sometime last year, note the address of the person delivering the package is Guinea (recall the Kenyan professor from Australia??).This is how it went:

Dearest,

I guess you are feeling great? So what happened, and what went wrong that made you to seize communication with me for such a long time, I hope nothing bad happened to you? Or don't you need me as your friend again?

Anyway I didn't forget you on my birthday celebrations coz it is a special time that friends should remember each other in a special way.

Well, I had my birthday party last sunday and I got some gifts from my organization, friends and relatives, your thought just came in my mind and I decided to let you have some of the pleasant gifts. And also to register in your heart that I still value our friendship.

I sent the gifts via our organization Chief Protocol,CHRISTIANO CORREIA he went back to Africa this morning and I gave him the gift package to deliver to you when he arrives there since you didn't provide me with your postal address and I couldn't wait for you to do that now coz I want to be traveling to Swiss for an official assignment and later return to Canada.

I believe where the Chief Protocol is residing might be closer to you or your residence country. Just contact him via email: christianocorreia@yahoo.com and possible discuss with him on phone: +245-6869169 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting +245-6869169 end_of_the_skype_highlighting, regarding how to receive my birthday gift package for you.

Please do accept this token of love, I know it isn't much but I sent it from my innermost heart and belief you gonna appreciate everything inside the package coz it is coming from a special friend and in a special way to remember me on my birthday.

The content of the pack are; a Dell laptop computer, 2 ip-phones, AN ENVELOPE, 1 Video Camera and some jewelries. I packed everything in a medium carton and the Chief Protocol accepted to deliver it to you coz he didn't went home with much luggage's of his own when he was going back to Africa this morning. Open the packet of the Laptop and to bring out envelop which I put inside, it contains some of my recent photos and a surprise gift which I don't want to disclose to you till you see it.

Update me when you receive it, so I will be aware. Wishing you the best in life.

Yours truly,

Janet

@Puthy.. I agree, especially given that you don't know the sender in the first place.

@Puthy, the more sophisticated ones ask you to meet the mediator, in this case, the "Chief Protocol" for the package. This is where your troubles begin.
