I admit there are some problems with paypal,especially if you are a seller,but i can assure you loggin in isn't one of them. am sorry if you had your account closed,but you can simply file a complaint with US authorities.

Being one of the largest online banks worldwide,you can imagine how many people log in to their accounts from outside the US. This doesn't mean that their a/c's will be closed,does it?

Anyway,to answer your question birdman,you can make a withdrawal from any ATM with a Mastercard logo. There is a daily limit of $400 though...

@ all thinking of paypal

I use paypal but it is prudent if you are going to do business online to understand what you are getting yourself into.

Paypal can and does with frequency limit accounts. Such a lock out can be a minimum of 6 months. They are always auditing their systems and trust me,they are efficient.

There are a number of well known reasons why they will limit your account

* Size of withdrawals
* Some proxies & IPs of unsupported countries
* Many refunds/chargebacks
* Amount of money going through account
* Credit/debit card that does not check out
* Types of products being sold
*using different too many ips to login to your account. Now if you are using safaricom,you know you can have even 5 different ips in a day!

If you have any of these with your account,they will find you out some day. the problem is that it always happens when you have a lot of money in there.

Talk to your paypal agent. They will inform you that if you login to your account from a different country from where it is registered,you are likely to have your account limited. Just because they haven't locked you out yet does not mean that they won't.

I have looked for a solution for Kenyan merchants and the safest for them is simply using another merchant.

Kenyans have the option of using plimus or 2checkout and in my humble opinion,they work just as well as paypal. You can also use moneybookers.

Do a google search on paypal limiting accounts. You will be surprised at the number of accounts locked out and the risk you are taking for your long term business.

If you wish to be happy with paypal,please follow their TOS. You can bookmark this post for future reference but if you are using paypal for Kenyan business,sooner or later,they will limit your account and it is not fun.

Hello all:

am wondering how Paypal purchases work in Kenya - can I use a debit card to add funds to my paypal account or does it have to be a credit card. Also if its debit is there any limit?
Thanks

Trying to upgrade my Paypal account from Personal to Premier or Business so I can escape the limit on personal accounts and avoid issues in future. Anyone done that before or with insights on potential pitfalls or problems it might portend?

@Alma - Your advise here would be appreciated. And any other expert.

Time and chance happen to all.

Its been long since I had to verify my account but it should be very easy.....In the first page you should see a link that says,lift your limit or even just shows the limit that's in your account. Just click on it and follow the instructions.....they are simple,you just need to verify your bank account and/or a credit card issued by your bank. (by the way,not a Kenyan bank but a bank from a country recognised in their TOS)....Then you should be fine......However,please don't think that this will stop your account from being limited when they think you are doing something against TOS......That is why I would advice you to use 2checkout as your payment processor if you will be loging in from Kenya......I now know of one guy who has had his 5k dollars stopped after i last wrote below.....So please join 2checkout,they will process your paypal payments and you never have to deal with their issues.
