Morning Wazuans.
I bought a few Express shares in my maiden days at the NSE( At the advice of my then broker who I have since dumped after getting wisened up the hard way!)
The price fell miserably during the economic crises and in my wisdom thought it a chance to average down. Its still oscillating and looks like its not a very popular share either with NSE or even with Wazuans.
My question is should I cut my losses; sell it at a loss, stay put and wait or simply buy more?
Please assist a damsel in distress!Sad

Do'nt try to down average in this share. Better sell it & get out from this counter. Instead of it invest in other counters like KCB, Kenol, KQ, DTB, Equity, etc. Now price are good.

Yeah, I think there are other counters from which you are more certain to turn a profit from than Express. But if you are in it for speculation. that's a different scenario, though I wouldn't advise you to average down while speculating

I will not provide any advice but instead give my experience.
I bought express Kenya at 24 bob back in 2007 and had to sell mid this year ( please dont laugh)

I got in for speculations purposes as it was the only counter trading in the alternatives segment. My fingers burnt terribly.

Any expert in the transport sector? would be useful to hear some insight why it doesnt seem to be doing well. When we see the bayusufs towing em by, we imagine many millions and millions. It seems not true?

When i attended the last AGM. They had bought into kenya bus service (or is it citi hoppa). We as shareholders were not cool with the idea.
Am not sure if they are still in the joint venture.

I was in Express back in 2006. At that time they had just sold out a Tourists Transport segment of the business in the opinion that the travel section was unprofitable. Why they want to get back to public transport is what I cannot understand.

When we attended the AGM in 2006 at their Indusrial area premises we were shown around and some of the contracts they had included:
- transporting for Toyotas.
- old currency destruction on behalf of Central bank.
- bond warehousing.
- old container disposition.
- transport on behalf of EABL.
- and of course the core truck transport business.

I sold out 3months later at no loss or profit.I just couldn't understand why they we not making as much money. At that time the directors had opted not to be paid director fees.

Among the shareholders in the meeting waa former suntra boss Mr Mirigu.

Funny enough Gupta then working for CFC was there.

@ wondergirl, I am sorry you won't make any money here.
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Just seen results for express, very poor. i looked at the results for 2006 and 2007. Sales are at a quarter of what they used to be. i wonder what has gone wrong with this company, surely transportation is very important, and necessary. I would be interested in hearing if anyone has any comments.
