The government has stopped the importation of set top boxes, which convert analogue signals to digital, as it adopts a more superior technology to transmit the signals.
The move means viewers who have already bought the Digital Video Broadcasting –Terrestrial (DVB-T) will have to buy the superior version (DVB-T2), which has far more improved

1st,the set box doesnt convert analog signals to digital, its just a receiver.DVB-T2 s welcome, but why didnt they do it from the word go.SAle hav not bn prohibited, its importation of the old boxes that bn put on hold as we await policy formulation.both DVB-T and DVB-T2 broadcasting wil continue=parallel.
With >40,000 boxes out there n higher prices for DVB-T2,they will push forward the shutting of analog to at least 2015.Though personally i think 2020 s mosty comfortable. We r in third world country!
Still have some boxes, new price at 3850KSH-0721316728.

Hata mimi am complaining!! ABK! a while back there was much hype on digital tv. most people rushed to buy the setup boxes. A year is a very short period to render the earlier digital setup boxes absolute/non-compatible..

There is still a long time to replace analogue to digital.
When a new technology hits the market, wait 6 months to one year. You will get an upgraded product at half the price.
The rich have money working for them; the poor and the middle class are going to work for money.

If you bought a HD type, chances are high you wont have to replace it.so your investment is still intact. The DVB-T2 is mainly an improvement on DVB-T that allows more HD chanels and portable reception.
