Dexter is a rather complex character who actually has a code guiding his actions. You thus find that whereas he kills 'bad' people he would not kill 'good' ones and in fact would rather die than see a 'good' person die as a result of his actions. To say that he would give pointers to serial killers like Onyancha is rather misguided.
Good show and the only other show that I find as good if not slightly better is LUTHER.
