...in layman language, it means the stocks will not be at the NSE, i.e. not a public offer as we had in safaricom.

The main shortcomings of privately held stocks is lack of liquidity, lack of information and lack of control.

However, most privately held firms benefit from more flexibility in decision making (less bureacracy). They are usually priced at discounts to allow for their illiquidity, lack of control and information deficiency. When such firms are finaly listed at the NSE, that discount becomes like a bonus to the existing shareholders...

.... And we also had the deacons offer.
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Inoorero did a private placement last year - and it was successful. They raised 300 million. They now want to raise 200 million to build their campus in Kitengela.

No Deacons is not a public offer. I know the media is a little misleading on this BUT IT IS a private placement.

@vvs i believe I&M is certainly bigger than the number 12 it said to be. Its assets are held out in a complex web of investment companies eg mnana limited, orchid investments, general insurance, minard investments...Check the accounts

No, you are mistaken.
- The firms [Minard, Tecoma, Mnana, etc] are shareholders of I&M Bank Ltd
- I have no idea who/what Orchid Investments is
- General Accident is a Related Company (common directorship). I doubt that I&M Bank owns any part of General Accident but I may be mistaken
