@Agra,
Am quite lost...just coz they told you they're watching ur house in a txt you believed them?? What else in the txt could prove that they actually know where you live? Dont send cash..just make sure your kid is under close suivillance at all times. Does he/she go to a public school? Do you have a new housegal?(housegals have been know to work hand in hand with kidnappers)

Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't..

@agra.. apart from maids.Most of this SMS originate from people behind bars in Kamiti,Naivasha etc..How do they get numbers for potential people to sollicit money? They go through the newspaper adverts. People selling cars,houses etc are targets. When advertising,make sure you use a line you can dispose or one meant for business only.

@ Agra......
As a rule of thumb,follow these rules when using your mobile phone to avoid SMS and phone scare conmen.
• Never answer a call from a withheld number. Let your friends know you never take such phone calls.
• Answer calls from people in your phone book. Those not in your phone book,ignore twice. If they call a third time,go to a phone bureau and call the number from there to know the identity of the caller.
• Ignore SMS messages that are threating but report the same to the police of a station away from your home area. The conmen will station someone near the home area police station to make you believe they have kept you under surveillance.
• Inform your husband,wife,partner or guardian but do so while hidden in-case the conmen are watching you. In most cases,they are miles away and are only playing with your psych. A friend told me yesterday how she was told to send 2000k or her son would be murdered. She sent the cash and only told her husband later who castigated her for being foolish. If only she had shared her predicament with him immediately she received the SMS.
• Incase the guy at the other end actually knows your name etc,remember the information could’ve been gotten from your business card,forwarded e-mail address,various CV’s you ever sent out,maids,your kids etc Read an article I will post here.

@ Pretty,
I must say I find your knowledge in all this as impressive as it is creepy.Do you work for the NSIS or are you simply drawing from your own life's experiences? I am just curious...

• Pole Gordon,I meant 2k
• It was sent via M-pesa. The number is still on but cauze she does not want to admit she sent the cash,we can’t follow up on the same.

@Inspector Pretty... Never say never. If you are a job seeker or in business,there are some organisation who have barred ID of all there outgoing call. You may miss that call you waiting for for either a contract or a job. Interviews for my current job were conducted on phone and was from unknown number,what if I had ignored it. I have friend working in big NGOs and all their outgoing official lines bar outgoing caller ID.
You said you can not follow up the matter cause the complaint is not ready to follow up the matter,then have a data base of such numbers for future reference or investigate whom the number belong to and warn him. I believe that is crime prevention,which is one of you core duties.
