My kid brother was kidnapped on Saturday and we had no clue where he was. On Sunday morning 6am,my folks another brother and I went all over town to all police stations just to check if probably he’d been held – central,Kamukinji,Kileleshwa,Pangani but no luck.

When we were leaving Pangani thinking of plan B,my dad gets the dreaded text message – 'we have your son,……want 500,000 in old notes deadline Friday - Play clean,we play clean……we will call you on Friday'

I won’t go into all the drama we went through from shock,confusion,tears and all.

We have a Flying Squad Officer who together with the Mobile Service Provider are trying to trace the location of the number used and says its takes 3 – 4 days and in any case they move up and down to make the trace harder and switch off the line once they send the text message and in any case,when they call on Friday,they will use another number.

Last evening,my dad send a text to that number try to re-negotiate – just to let them know he received the text but they have not replied as yet and to keep communication going as it is the only link to my bother.

We are in a state of panic.

Was just wondering if any Skerian has heard or known anyone who has experienced such and how they dealt with it. I would appreciate your advice.

• Unless am misguided,this is such an open forum you would want to be vague
• The kidnappers might be reading your post
• We got the message
• Remove most of the data that can identify you or your brother
• Then,lets hope tough thinkers on this blog will put their ideas together.
• However,remember,we are in an open field where the kidnappers may end up giving you suggestions hapa hapa.
• All in all,involve the experts who have dealt with kidnappings before
• Local police are usually as good as s**t coated with icing sugar
• I cry for you dasany

@dasany,like pretty has said - be vague - rephrase it as hypothetical...all the best - our prayers are with you...

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

• Don’t lose hope
• But be very cautious
• Come up with Plan A,B,and C

Here is plan A,

• Go to either a Nation,Star or Standard Senior Crime reporter.
• Give them the story but ensure they won’t leak it out before your bro is found
• These reporters have contacts of some reliable officers in the police force who have dealt with such crime before with success.
• Once the police officers know the media is watching,they will put their best foot forward
• Kidnappers at times work with the police
• The last time I was kidnapped,my dad reported to the police
• When he was talking to the OCPD,the Kidnappers called my dad to say they knew he was talking to the OCPD.
• The OCPD most likely was in the deal. Who doesn’t know the police are actually some of the worst crime perpetrators.
• Due to such risk,come up with a fall back plan and call it plan B. Am working on it right now but don’t let it be the last option. In the meantime,agree to pay the guys but don’t actually do it unless this is treated money aimed at getting the kidnappers.

@simonkabz
seems the post was edited for security reasons - so just assume somebody's brother or sister has been kidnapped like we are all assuming.

Hey,wapi @Kinyee - now here she would be of great help. Gosh,these kidnappings are so many... anyone with contacts that @dasany can send an sms to for help? eg,a police officer - well,they may be involved but not all of them abet in criminal activities. This guy needs help.

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Plan B: Track the imps down
• In most cases,Kidnappers are caught when they come to receive the money or send a carrier who is traced to the kidnappers hide out.
• Mobile phone transmission also works even when the guys change sim cards,so don’t give up on that front.
• In the meantime,retrace your brothers last steps. You never know,something will click that will give you tell tale signs of who is behind it or who assisted in the Kidnapping mission.
• Ask around where he was last seen,was he whisked away in a car? Mat,Taxi,bike etc
• Remember,when you engage the media,the Kidnappers will avoid injuring the boy cauze the manhunt that will follow will put them out of business. Thugs hate publicity as once an issue is publicized,they avoid murdering someone as doing so would elicit emotional outpourling,outrage and demand for action from the public. The only time this imps would kill would be as a warning to the public but Kidnappers are hardly ready to do so unless they are Mungiki or a serious gang like chinkololo.
@Mpenzi
• Twice. The last time,I outsmarted the guys,they were shot dead and the story ended there. So please don’t ask me about the incident till we settle Dasany’s case.
@All
• Dasany had put down the details here so well it would have been used against her. We hope the imps did not get to read the first post.
