...about a week ago there were demosntrations in London by students because the governmnet was considering raising university fees. This was a success. The government has gone back to the drawing board.
...The oil Cartels in Kenya are reaping hefty demonic profits from overprized fuel. Atwoli has indicated that the government should look into this. otherwise he will lead workers in a demonstration in the first week of December 2010 to force prices down. I SUPPORT you Mr Atwoli. Do not relent. People are suffereing.
...Since the govt has been unable to control the price of fuel, then as it did when there was famine, it should consider selling cheap fuel, just like maize (oh..my God, this was a disaster). There are news that National Oil Corporation is importing large quantities of oil and this should enable prices to come down. We will wait and see.

Do you support this move? what do you think should be done to tame this greedy oil cartels?

My car would rather stall in the streets than fuel in any of the National Oil Corporation (NOCK) outlets. The fuel attendants are thieves. It is like they have been trained by Kiraitu how to k(NOCK) off afew cents from your fuel. The oil metre is always set at Ksh 200, 500, etc and when you come to fuel the attendants dont adjust it!!! My wife noticed this and off course they paid the price...Yo can con a man but not a woman!!!

I also am fully supporting this Atwoli guy. At least there is someone ready to do something. I am very very dissappointed in Kiraitu and that villagemate he appointed to head the ERC. How can a whole governemnt say ' We cannot do anything about fuel prices?" Bruurry fooos! Endeni nyumbani muwaachie wale wanaweza!!

Everytime I walk to a fuel station and see that gas nozzle and I always feel like hitting Kiraitu's bent mouth using the nozzle.

Petrol costs roughly Kshs 47 at the refinery.How this figure ends up at over 100 bob by the time it reaches the car is a mystery.

Considering the profit Oll companies make, then this is misdirected.
He should go after Banks and safaricom. These guys make super normal profits.
Around 50 of fuel cost is taxes.
The parastatal meant to bring prices downwards cannot afford to lower prices, because they would incur crazy loses.
The greatest act of bravery is chancing a fart while suffering from diarrhoea

Of the demonic profits - a bit hard to justify, unless total and kenolkobil who control a big share of the market, have been tinkering with the audited accounts. We need to find out what demonic numbers waweru hands over to uhuru.

Like safariant wrote, this is not just an oil prices problem. Super abnormal profits are everywhere in Kenya. The problem is lack of consumer protection. We need groups whose sole agenda is to look out for the well being of the consumer
