Why You Need to Maintain your house well.

There is this guy who owned one of those old colonial bungalows in Upperhill.Actually the house was even let out as office space.

Early last month officials from the National Heritage and Museums of Kenya passed by the house and were impressed by its historic touch and were even thinking of begining the process of gazetting it as a historical site.

When the owner got wind of this,all tenants were given one week's notice to vacate,after which the house was pulled down in one day.

The gazettement would have meant that no redevelopment, renovation or alterations of whatever kind could be carried out in the building,not even painting.Just imagine the opportunity cost!!!

Moral:Maintain your house in good shape lest its gazetted and you cant redevelop it.

Interesting. I would however be cautious in admitting that the decision to pull it down was well informed. Who knows how much it would have earned him in monetary terms, or even otherwise? Ummm....Anyone?
