with so many competitions going on offering prize money as big as 1000000, one wonders where the winners are. is there anyone who knows a winner? or is this another scam?

The lottery is normally taxed so the winner never becomes a millionaire; for instance if you won 1M and the gova axes you 30%, you effectively becomes a hundred-thousanaire...

d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

Are you sure? Thought that winning a lottery is like a windfall which does not get taxed?

@Elder talk the famous lady who won a Merc some 4 years ago.
The Merc was worth 6M and she got less than half at the end of the day!

Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you

I'm sure that if these things are real, Wazua should have AT LEAST one person that has won "big" money from these competitions. Over to you...

I used to think like you guys above that these lotteries are scams until my partner won. And there i was looking like a fool after discouraging her not to participate. i had to accompany to the said offices to make sure it was real. We were given 10% of the money and the rest was wired to her bank account. Believe it or not their is money out their to be won.

Collecting money from A,B,C,D and E and giving a small portion of the same to Z can only be scam.....Why does the government encourage this kind of crap!

These things are all fake. Look at the winners lists. They are 100% 'bottom of the pyramid' Kenyans(with some companies even going on to stress the lowly job the winner used to hold), and that in itself is very fishy. This is because the company could profit more from just selling hope. So they give these poor Kenyans a few thao to pose for a photo and go preach the gospel('It is real! It is real'). Hawezi kataa pesa ya bure kama hiyo. This whole setup is there to reel in repeat entries(which is where the real profit lies) with the 'if he can, so can I' mentality

Reasons why this theory holds water:

1. There is more profit to be gained this way
2. The Betting Control and Licensing Board has been shown up as a sheer farce of a company after they started allowing this type of rule:

Quote:
Prize is guaranteed by the organizer to the value of KShs___ and is thereafter sales dependant.

Translation: Tunaomba Serikali itusaidie..
Wee guks wacha.Shame on you

Methinketh all this has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with gova but everything to do with human greed.

No, people should stop being greedy instead.
The greed for easy money is so much it blinds common sense making it uncommon!
The raffles only exploit that greed.
These raffles are good stimulus to the stupid and greedy to wake up. The cash they spend on the raffles is the fee the greedy pay to get this great education on the benefits of thinking!
Unfortunately the masses never learn since for some the purpose of heads ears is just to separate their ears, not to use to think. So let them continue paying, till they understand the lesson!
There's a sucker being born every minute, any wazuan come up with your own scam and I guarantee you success.
