I'm planning to buy some books online and was thinking to support our 'local industry' (lots of local players involved including but not limited to MPesa, Courier, Customer Care agents etc....) by buying through these guys...

www.kalahari.co.ke

There's not much difference in pricing (and sadly, delivery time ....) viz a viz the main quote on Amazon.

But I need to know if anyone here can vouch for them? What was your experience? Have you used their services and if so would you recommend them to anyone?

Much obliged.

I bought some RAM from them a few months back. Delivery took longer than the stated 11 days but it arrived straight to my door via courrier. The packaging is very good, just like Amazon, in fact exactly like Amazon minus the branding.

The service was good, when the items were over 5 days late, I called and the lady who answered was very courteous and explained to me that I should be receiving my parcel in a couple of days. Sure enough, 2 days later I had them.

I haven't bought anything worth more than 5000/- from them though. Let us know your experience if you choose them.

E-commerce is a very hard nut to crack, regardless of the costs saved.

Good that you put those in quotes. Very South African. And what is it with South African companies invading the online market with stuff like kalahari, dealfish, bidorbuy etc?
