KCPE need to be reformed and not scrapped as proposed by the Mpig.
The world over the education system are usually revised and reviewed in tandem with ever changing world standards, not scrpping.
I know @Njunge attended the former 4-3-2-3 system of education (Early 30s) and never gone beyond the Elelmentary level 4 (Veteran politician Njenga Karume exited at Elementary 2, equivalent of std 2)

I agree. Maybe instead of doing kcpe for 3 days, they can do it right from std 1, so that the whole series of exam is what is called kcpe.
Now if they remove kcpe, what standardised exam will the pupils do? Wont some answer tougher questions, to deliberately fail them, while some have it easy, again deliberately?
We need a constant! Not just scrapping for the fun of it.....

@Yesuwangu,
Continuous assessment proposed.....and what this means is that each and every kid will have an opportunity to get to form four level.

scrapped is a wrong word, say replaced. over time, education system should be shaped to go in line with the times. the question should be; which one should we move to?
African parents don't know how to say sorry.. the closest you will get to a sorry is a 'have you eaten'

This will need us to ensure that all secondary schools have more or less similar facilities first, Two that there are enough schools for every Class 8 leaver otherwise how will we determine who goes to Alliance High and who goes to the village day school where the closest you come to the lab is in the kitchen mixing tea leaves?

Yes. We are on the same page there. But who will set these exams the pupils do in the continuous assessment?
Will it be left for the schools to set, mark and grade their own exams as they currently do?

Commpetition is natural, why try to eliminate it. We cant all be equal, thats why we need examinations.
