Read about this Evans dude and I was like meeehhh. What's so heroic about lamps. Be they solar or whatever. Then on reflection I realised that the electricity from KPLC is not available to all. That there are several Kenyans who have to rely on those paraffin eye killers to light up their lights. That the paraffin also does not come cheap and thus there is some rationing involved in its use. Like a pebble in a pond Evans has had an effect on so many in more ways than I can discern. I have voted for him.

Do you know there some areas where students use fire for lighting while revising? Now do you know that in some areas even firewood is a luxury so the student can as well forget using it to do his/her home work? The same student has house hold chores that end well past 7:00 pm so he/she can forget doing the homework before dark!!! And that is why passing exams is a miracle in some marginalized areas. Add to that the health issues associated with the smoke produced by kerosene lamps [especially the ones with no glass] and you can see why EVANS WADONGO is a hero. Maybe not directly to you and me, but to our fellow Kenyans - and therefore by extension to us [Me and you!]

Totally agree with you. And the bolded part is even more significant given that for a substantial number of Kenyans education is the only avenue of 'class' mobility.

Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
