Disclaimer: This is not a Buy recommendation for Safcon

Since I don't own SafariCon shares nor use SufferingCon... it doesn't affect me but how will SafCon manage similar profits as net margin on Voice must have dropped like a rock... [Some ground will be made up by Data & M-Pesa but I doubt enough to cover Voice 'profits'] Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

[Some ground will be made up by Data & M-Pesa but I doubt enough to caover Voice] just because i don't drink tea or coffee nor own sasini shares doesn't mean i will not be moved when i see them release the figures any time soon. the fact that you dont own safaricom means you will be more on the look out because maybe you have intentions of hopping in. African parents don't know how to say sorry.. the closest you will get to a sorry is a 'have you eaten'

The half year was unaffected by price wars, should be a steep climb against 2009 HY as there were gains through out, any sub 10% climb or drop in profits will be a disaster, i estimate 20%+ against 2009 HY. The current half year is where we will see a drop, in my current wife's profits, but they will tell us more, tomorrow. Ras Kienyeji Man

Disclaimer: This is not a Buy recommendation for Safcon I bet you will live to eat your words. Not too long ago "this thing" touched 4.05/4.10.

[Some ground will be made up by Data & M-Pesa but I doubt enough to caover Voice] I have all of a hundred shares in Safcom and I do use their services, so I guess my concern level for Safaricom is higher than yours. On a more serious note, the health of Safaricom is or has been a major concern to all in the market. To begin with, it has the effect of pushing the indexes (indices?) down, with any small slide. You will also recall it was Safaricom that started the headlong dive by the NSE in 2008 as the GFC begun to bite. Further, the masses are unlikely to ever embrace the NSE wholeheartedly again as long as Safcom remains below IPO price. And it is the retailers who tend to really push prices up when they are on a roll as they do not pause to analyse before buying, just as they do not when they decide to sell. So, unfortunate as that may be, Safaricom will have an impact on my KQ, KK, KCB, Equity Bank and other shares. I am actually afraid that since Safcom's results will not be anything to write about, I will not see shares get to the potential in 2010.

Even in the midst of all the adversity, it is good to see that some of our "current wives" are profitable!!!

I saw a piece about vodacom in Citizen tv having dropped its earning considerably due to low calling rates. So its just obvious, safaricom will definitely hav a reduced PAT. Bob-Call-Me-More is being disingenuous! http://www.rich.co.ke/media/docs/016NSX0811.pdf
“And what happens...either we don’t build the roads and other people have to pay more taxes.” Puhleeze, I spend more time on the phone + I have extra cash to save, invest & spend elsewhere! So GoK will still get tax cash from my purchases of shares (stamp duty + CMA fees), purchase of food, greater data usage, Withholding tax on interest income, etc... Greedy when others are fearful. According to NTV's news at 1.00 p.m. this afternoon, Airtime sales have dropped by between 20-30 % since the airtime wars started. They were citing Bob Collymore who had dropped in for a courtesy call on Linus Gitahi ahead of tomorrow's release of Safcom's results.

@wazua, even you contribute to discussions? hehehe!, Zain is dead broke of course, wana madeni wazimu, thats why they won't report their record breaking losses, i wouldn't dare deposit cash in zap or hold a large airtime credit balance with them, hapana!. Ras Kienyeji Man

@mlennyma. what are u tryin to drive at. So you think the half year results will be brilliant.? Go ahead and buy then you'll get a thorough beatin lik all the other dumb investors. What's happening now is all the losses from the tarrif cuts are being factored in and the share price might see a slight beating.People are fleeing this stock !!!!!!!!!!! Look at all that supply. Or what does the huge volume imply to you ? Agressive buying ? Your future depends on your dreams so go to sleep !
