Visited their farm past Kenol and things there are looking up. Avocados are doing well, milk has hit a high of 30 shillings per litre (These guys have high grade cows), they also have green houses for horti, and a serious forest for growing poles and timber tree (was worried KPLC of late are using concrete poles but was informed they still buy for rural electrification and export), Pineapples are bought by Del Monte, and the best news of the day, the guys grow tea in two areas, the past Kenol area (forgotten the name of the place but is like kikuyu)and Siret in Nandi hills The operations manager told me that tea returns has more than doubled and they don't intend to sell their land soon. Maybe after 100 yrs. He said he was disappointed by the low price of Kakuzi at 87 as he believes the shares are worth anywhere between 150 and 200. This is leaked data. He said the parent company of Kakuzi, Camellia Inc, has asked the company to pay maximum dividends. They control over fifty percent of the company (slightly over 10 million shares) and thus expect their request to be met as they need cash at home - Britain. "Kama Williamson made 96 EPS, what do you think Kakuzi has made", he said. Made a call and bought 10,000 Kakuzi yesterday at 88 before I left for Nandi hills. Go overdrive in purchasing the goods when there's blood on the streets, expecially if the blood is your own

True true..but mean while..Eaagards drama..then after riding..plant entire proceeds on Kakuzi. ..Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven...Matt5:16 - 1769 Oxford King James Bible 'Authorized Version

@Sure. Your on site company analysis is jazzing me. But your info is just too enticing. Couple wit the fact, it broke 90 today. Are they that friendly, as in even i can go and be shown around? Great stuff. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

@ Sure,
Are you sure they grow tea in Makuyu? Didn't think so. Siret Tea estate is slowly being off-loaded to the Outgrowers Empowerment Company, though their other estates in Nandi continue to perform 'in line with expectations'!
Pineapples is a joint venture arrangement with Del Monte, though am not sure about the specifics.
Didn't think they did dairy either - only beef cattle. They also grow lucerne for hay.
Kakuzi rarely participate in tendering for KPLC poles contracts but do supply to brokers who win the tenders. They also do a lot of fencing posts (blue gum) and rough timber (planks) for boxes and pallets used by exporters of horticultural products.
Why would the parent (Camellia) need to 'order' the subsidiary (Kakuzi) to pay a large dividend when they already sit on the board and control over half the company?
Anyhow, you'll still make a good return on your investment of 10,000 shares.
If I was in a position to influence the board, I would suggest they consider disposing of their 'high-value' land and relocating their operations elsewhere where similar climatic, soil, labour etc conditions could be found, so long as it makes business sense.

Overall, a great buy especially if Tatu City takes off! Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

@Surealligator....looks like our dear Kakuzi has just dropped from 95/- to 83/-. What a fall. Kakuzi never likes to move past the 80's range. Major resistance there...

Del Monte DOES not buy Kakuzi pineapples. What they have is a joint venture on land and it gets contraversial once in a while.

I was hoping to buy more at the lower 80s level today but alas! were back up again. This thing may be heading for the 100s. It reminds me of DTB before it made a move for the hundreds and became a legendary money maker...

Typical share prices being affected by threads in wazua, only the ignarant can refuse that wazua actually is a factor in market prices..this is like the 6th stock i have seen its price shoot up in the last 6 months just because someone in here lit the green light.

Then there must be alot of fund managers visiting here. Individual retail investors can only do so much.

merchant, me hinks most investors in the NSE visit this site at list once or twice a week, fund managers included. One thing ive noticed with nse trading is that we cant ignore the perception factor, there are good shares trading a a low price and vice versa, most of this jus needs a thread in here running on the positive then the price automaytically shoots up, or a negative thread, then you see the price drop down. I think most investors pass by wazua to get whats in or not.

I think most investors pass by wazua to get whats in or not. But we do have several outliers eg KQ and NIC. Most good people here feel that these stocks are a good buy at current prices but they have been moving very slowly ( for NIC ) AND EVEN REVERSING GAINS (FOR kq). It just goes to show you never really can tell...

Methinks the jump in the Kakuzi share price was precipitated by the meteoric rise in Eaagads. Given that Kakuzi does not trade huge volumes, it was easy for the price to go up once sellers held onto their supply. With the Eaagads story having died a natural death, Kakuzi is also slowly coming down to earth.
Kakuzi remains a relatively good stock, so it should not fall much. I however doubt whether it will go up as much as has been touted on this forum as it is already trading near its all time high.
It is interesting to note that the two threads on Eaagads and Kakuzi were both started by Sure Alligator.

Also to note is that Ally Khan has huge interests in Agricultural stocks and a heavy investor here so he has enormous influence on the direction Kakuzi, Eaagads, Sasini, Kapchutia, Williamson Tea take! @SufficientlyP
