I hope this will be the case for all of us with significant % of our potfolios on KQ. One or two of the significant investors in the US have talked against airline stocks, but probably at a time when US airline stocks were doing badly + they have not experienced our airline(read KQ) stocks yet. Good luck to all of us! Don't gamble; take all your savings and buy some good stock and hold it till it goes up, then sell it. If it don't go up, don't buy it...

@Cecero almost every airline in the World is reporting a surge in profits...even BA of all cases...overall KQ carried more passengers in 1H 2010 compared to 2H 2009...KQ earns 90% of its revenues from passengers...lastly KQ only made 164M operating profit from 33B revenue due to overhead i.e wage settlement.

On this one, I have no illusions. If the results disappoint, we shall get roasted. I am prepared for that, it is a stock market after all.
But, I am wondering is there something fishy regarding today's trades. Over 500,000 shares on offer at 44 but the few shares on bid at 43 are not being supplied. Could the offers at 44 be a lure to bring out would be supply at lower figures?

What has changed in KQs fundamentals to warrant such a low interest, huge supply and no buyers?

The only confusing thing to me (i have no training in commerce) is how/when KQ is going to make profit from it's core business of carrying passangers and cargo (or anything else they do) other than the fuel hedges which to a layman like me sounds like musical chairs in a company not making any profits. I can handly call myself "an investor" in this counter but rather a "speculator" as i still dont think they are making profits in the "proper way" (read core business). BUT with @thedeal's reassurance i guess we have no option but to wait for tomorrow ... Don't gamble; take all your savings and buy some good stock and hold it till it goes up, then sell it. Seeing how the market is behaving,I doubt if it will go below 40(for long)even with poor results...so you are quite 'safe'. The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

Anyhow, in for a penny, in for a pound. Today, I will purchase the last lot that I need to get to my target. This will bring my stake in KQ to roughly 15% of my portfolio. Let's see whether I will be crying tomorrow! I kept on watching waiting to see whether the price would dip below 43 given the huge asks at 44. I had a small bid at 43 which sadly was only partially filled. So I did not get to my target but I am almost there. I think the asks at 44 appear to have been a bluff. Else why did they not climb down?! Now tomorrow beckons and all will be revealed.

bss wrote:officially in the prayer group for this counter. kesho++ LOL. This is what happens when you buy into an airline. No wonder WB does not like them. He would rather spend his time doing something else other than engage in prayer. While I own it, I control my risk by not having too much of it on my portfolio. In this case - near 15%. I need to be less of a wimp! On the other hand, I can live with a complete wipeout of the counter, if the price were to come down to zero "ceteris paribus".

I should probably have bought beer with my money. Well, not literally but EABL never seems to have a hige risk, the divideds are good and despite never making your heart beat faster with expectations, it doesnt also make your stomack pain with underwhelming results! Beer is not too bad after all compared to air-seats! Don't gamble; take all your savings and buy some good stock and hold it till it goes up, then sell it. If it don't go up, don't buy it...

There were actually 7 sellers at 44 when I last checked. Might be guys who wanted to bolt just in case the results are bad, or could be 1 seller with many accounts. If the results are good, have no fears. The dude(s) will withdraw their supply, of that I am certain. By the way, I take my hat out to you. 50% on an airline requires nerves of steel. For your sake (and mine of course) I hope (not that word again)TN, has not been sleeping on the job and just been selling RPKs without commensurate profits!

I am afraid I have bad news for you. I do not think that we will be heading to 62 shillings soon, so you better be prepared to wait it out or better think of another strategy. I have the stock at an average price of 44 and if the results bomb, I might just decide to sell at 40 and cut my losses! Anyhow, tomorrow we may be talking a different story, but I have my doubts.
