I have noted that many trucks hang some two loose chain link pieces (nyororo, almost touching the ground from each side at the rear.
Folks have tried to explain that it has some scientific advantage which they have not been able to demonstrate fully.

Some one educate me on this.

This is to transmit the static energy from the lorry to the ground. If you wear a certain type of rubber shoe and you step out of a car, you will feel an electric shock running through your leg. When we have a chain or a conductor,the potential difference between the ground and the vehicle is zero

It is meant to prevent a very minor chance of effects like malfunction of pacemakers and other bio-mech/tronic implants and highly flamable gas ignition by discharge.

Thanks,
This sounds more like it.
Sometime I get out of my car and locking the door some mild electricity strikes me.
Not the best of feelings.

What would happen though if the static in the trucks was not arrested?

This shock is terrible, especially if u had been cruising for long hours, pushing the window helps but it looks crude.
There must be a way of doing this, I will try to hang a nyororo chini ya gari yangu.

@Kingauwi/Impunity,
I am right to say that it's the upholstery of your car which generates the charge that shocks you....which means it's ordinary fabric....Put those leather like covers and your problem is solved.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
