I tried to get in to Kakuzi today but failed... Sorry to anyone planning to get in because starting tomorrow i'm bidding up the price above 90 Laughing out loudly

"Good news" @g267. You do not have to bid for Kakuzi at 90+. There are 6,400 shares available at between 88 and 89.50. Knock yourself out!

I guess you know that this has been the upper end of its trading range, so if you buy at these prices, you will hold these shares for a while.

I dont care where this stock has been trading....
Have you been watching the tea auctions plus the supply??? then haven't you noticed how the kenyan shilling has been weakening???

This range will be smashed through once these results are released.... I also love Kapchorua at these levels by the way...

[quote=pkmm][quote=VituVingiSana]On 24 Feb 2010...

The comments are from FEB 2010... when the rally had just started...

Since then I have bought into Kakuzi, Williamson, Kapchorua...

YOU got it! the issue here is LAND VALUE, more so, those plantations within nrb/large metros, the land is more valuable than the crop ... Where is hon Orengo when we need him ... land speculation getting out of control.

This is he best n cheapest way to own land IMO

BTW VVS, did you know Kapchorua is wholly owned by Williamson ...

Question? what change if any with these plantations in regards to Counties?

1) Let those who want to speculate do so... As long as it is not illegal! What's your problem here? This is not illegally grabbed land.

2) Kapchorua is not 100% owned by Williamson. Where do you get your info?

3) None of the plantations (listed firms) are within Nairobi. The closest would be Eagaads but that is in Kiambu/Ruiru.

4) I did not buy into these for land. That is a side benefit. I bought into them for the Tea.

1) Speculation will cause the same/worse problems than the West is having as a result of housing/etc speculation, except ours will be worse.

2) How much do you know about Williamson/Kapchorua? i)I worked there ii) check Williamson website, it was also there.

3) Land is NOT only being speculated in Nairobi/Metro, check across Kenya and nearby. In March and again in Sept I travelled to Arusha,South Nyanza, Nyanza, Mombasa/North & South, Eldoret, Nakuru, Naivasha, Nyeri, Garissa, Juba, Machakos(malili,Lukenya), Thika ... in all these areas there is a great deal of land speculation.

4) Near major cities /metro, crop is surely secondary.

@guru. Im afraid of asking you what is sooo good about kakuzi. Because the last time i checked a company you'd given heads up -jubilee-. It blew my mind so much, i had to buy it. I started tracking this share when it used to oscillate between 70-80 for months, then suddenly went above 80 and stabilised there. One can actually make money with these fluctuations. The name has a ring to it i must admit.

Weakening shilling, High tea prices, High supply of tea, and under valued land on their balance sheet.... with the P/E and book value this stock is trading at all I have to do is patiently wait for the guys who bought at 19-30 to finish taking their profits

Nothing more... I would also recommend Kapchorua because its equally as cheap

I am 100% sure that Williamson does not own 100% of Kapchorua... I will not revisit this matter unless you have incontrovertible proof...

If Williamson owns 100 percent of Kapchorua, then HOW ON EARTH are guys still able to buy their shares from the market? Or Williamson is a frequent trader of its shares?

@VVS, what was I thinking! I n I'm sure others owe a few shares of kapchorua, and hence there is NO way WT can own 100% kapchorua, your point well taken ...

Actually, Eaagads' land is nearer Nairobi than Kakuzi. Kakuzi has more land, but theirs is beyond Thika, I think!

Sasini's land is much nearer - some of it in Kiambu County while the rest is in Rift Valley. But Sasini has been revaluing property and equipment, so it does not trade at as big as a discount as the other Agriculturals. And then there is the Merali factor!

On the other hand WTK has land they have not revalued for a while and also own shares in Williamson House in Upper Hill. However, all their land is in Rift Valley!

Kakuzi's land is accessible to the Highway (but in/near Thika) whereas Eagaads is in Ruiru...

Williamson House - Only 6 floors belong to Williamson. They ran out of cash many years ago so 'sold' the rest.

Sasini - Yep, the merali factor. He will make money no matter what!
