Manchester United beat Spurs 2-0, but what do you think about the controversial second goal? The ref had allowed play to go on but Gomes put the ball down and the Nani scored the goal. the referee never blew the whistle...

Clearly the goal of the season, as bizarre as it was.

The goal was Perfectly okay but the events that preceded it were not.

1) Nani was clearly held while in a goal scoring position. That was a straight penalty with the possibility of a red card - it was not given!

2) Nani handled the ball. The ref didn't see that coz the goalkeeper simultaneously went for the same ball. That should have been a free kick with the [slight] possibility of a yellow card to Nani for handling the ball on purpose - that is if we totally ignore (1) above. The ref didn't see the ball being handled and therefore didn't give the free kick. The goalkeeper knew this too and that is why he took the ball and went on to restart it.

3) The goalkeeper clearly restarted the game - by the throwing the ball slightly ahead of him - which is common practice if the ball hadn't gone out of play. So the goal stands!!!

As @KenyanLyrics says, play with the whistle. Simple and clear. You cannot rely on previous (mis)judgments to make current decisions. Ni hiyo tu.

Bravo Nani. Quick thinking. From lying flat on his back to the ball shaking the net - all in 10 seconds!! Obviously I am biased. I am Man - U damu.

and even before Nani scored, he gestured to the ref whether it was a free kick or not, ref waved play on. always play by the whistle. Who remembers during Barthez times when Man U got dumped out of an FA Cup match by West Ham at Old Trafford? Barthez never played to the whistle and Man U lost 1-0. always play to the whistle!!

That Nani goal was sweet............Make no mistake, it would even have been sweeter had it been scored against aseno.

i am a manu hater but i have to admit it was a goal. look at the case where the goal keeper tried to save ball by the dive. this means he just realised the mistake he just commited.
