You can avoid the Linux route by just inserting an unauthorised simcard on the modem and with Safaricom_broadband being open it will just ask for the unlock code. Insert it and voila ua modem is unlocked

Can an unlocked huwaei zain modem be used with Orange line?

the sotware that everyone is using to unlock the modems is just some ware that was pirataed from the huawei system. this counld not be done for ZTE modem because it was not yet here, now that there is a neccesity the relevant people are working day and night to crack this. give them time.
African parents don't know how to say sorry.. the closest you will get to a sorry is a 'have you eaten'

an unlocked modem ceases to relate to the 'mother network' hence can be used on any network, even if you try MTN in kenya. only that there will be no signal.

Sober , I unlocked mine and I have been unable to use on Orange , it says the Sim cannot be registered yet its the same Sim I use for making calls.what could be the problem?

Problem is the Settings for orange,
Just go to tools_options_profile management_new profile
feed in the following orange settings and save

Profile name: Orange internet
APN:bew.orange.co.ke
Access no.:*99***#
Leave username and password blank
