So the article the other day in the Business Daily http://www.businessdailyafrica....n/-/6p74m8z/-/index.html heralding growing number of new malls in addition to the existing 10.

Now today I see in Westage Mall, 27-Oct mind you, that Santa has come early allowing shoppers to deposit letters. Warning bells rang seriously, its only October for heavens sake. Speaking to some outlets in the food court, they wistfully wish they had more business to offset the expensive rents. This Santa must be a desparate act...

As malls go, I've been told that Sarit Centre dominates by a long shot. Has the ranking changed from a couple of years ago?
01 Sarit
02 Yaya*
03 Prestige
04 Junction
05 Capital Centre
06 Crossroads
07 Village
08 T-Mall
09 Westgate*

* most expensive

In my books Junction comes first - best parking space. I just hope the expansion will not eat into that space.

Whoosh! Late to the Wazi party today...
Well @gathinga the list was then compiled on the basis of average weekly traffic with Sarit coming at around 25,000 weekly reaching 40,000 weekly on Christmas days. Yaya was definitely second with Junction coming up strongly.

But by all means, I'm not an expert. Hence the post trying to gauge current positions...

I have to agree with @Gordon Gekko, Junction is doing quite well. You know they are one of the few top class malls that doesn't charge on parking. I like the space/airiness in Village Market but nothing much happens on weekdays.

I suspect they shall begin to charge very soon.. now that there's an odd 300 bob parking fee in town, and some people from e.g. Ngong may opt to drop off their bijuti's there.

So maybe it's safe to say in 2010 Junction is now 2nd to Sarit 1st. But I hear Yaya Centre has the best traffic/shopping conversion ratio.

It seems most people who go to Yaya seem to buy something. Is it because it's smaller so less space to waste time?

That new mall coming up on Langata road (Galleria) seems far away from everything else. Which constituency will it serve?
