Beckham was clearly not good than Zidane, Figo, Raul when he signed for Real Madrid but he still managed to get a better deal than all of them and guess who was the President then...Fiorentino Perez. Rooney is currently England's best player so he's more than just your ordinary player, he's a brand.

Actually i don't think a player's wages are usually an issue at the point of negotiation, the IMAGE RIGHTS are the main thing to a club such as Real Madrid. Most of the players who have signed for Real rarely do so purely based on performance on the sports field. That is why Beckham was the most valuable player then.

In all honesty who would attract better endorsements between WR and CR7 at Real? The answer to this, for me, is a no-brainer. How exactly is SAF a genius in all these? I have to feel sorry for the old guy, it was either you give Rooney a new contract or his off. How many fans will believe this guy again when he talks of Man Utd loyalty.....Its always about the money. Whats even worse is the way he's being treated like a new signing, the guy is top class but yet to perform this season.
