This could be a ploy to gain an upper hand in the negotiations on his new contract with the team. If and when everything concerning his new contract is sorted out to his liking, he will talk to some reporters dismissing the 'rumours' and pledging his future to the club. Rio did it, Vidic did it and the outcome was favourable to them. Why not Rooney? He has been pledging his future to Man U all along knowing there is Money Shitty and Real. What has fundamentally changed? Strain of the relationship between him and SAF? Is that enough to make him pack his bags? I doubt.
On the flip side, this could be real and he might be on his last season in Man - U. If that is the case, so what? I would not like to imagine that any one individual is greater than the team. If he leaves, all we can do is wish him well and thank him for his service at the team. Then we go on. I have be supporting Man U for eons and I have seen great players come and go. I almost fainted when Beckham was sold. Roy Keane was also a shocker. The list goes on. Who still misses CR? A good player he was, a good job he did, many a goal he scored but he could never have been allowed to bigger than the team! Ni hiyo tu.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
