Thanks @Ric Dees. I stand corrected. Was relying on older figures. Also, some ophthalmologists will 'suggest' one or two additional 'good to have' procedures in the name of making the entire procedure 'safer'. Of course, who would not want error free eye surgery? Can freak the hell out of anyone considering the risks involved so you have little option but pay up for the extras. Can make the effective cost a little higher than what they advertise.
But like you, it is not something I would fancy doing. Even a 5% risk is a little too high in my view for a procedure you can comfortably live without.

However what you need to know bout Laser eye treatment is that it's not permanent after 3-4 years you will be back to where you were if not worse. I almost crossed this line some 3 years back until a colleague told me bout this decided it was just not worth it.
