After 69 days ,the rescue operation for 33 Chilean miners is well under way.Trapped 700M underground must have tested their physical and mental endurance to the limit.They may have known that every effort was being made to rescue them but at the back of their mind Murpy's law must have been replaying time and again.

@CNN,
Wim Hof always amuses me;Here is what a human body can do (C&P

Wim Hof (born 20 April 1959, in Sittard, Limburg) is a Dutch world record holder, adventurer and daredevil, commonly nicknamed the Iceman for his ability to withstand extreme coldness. He holds nine world records including a world record for longest ice bath.[1] In 2007, he attempted, but failed (due to a foot injury), to climb Mount Everest wearing nothing but shorts.[2][3] Hof has been criticized for his stated justifications for this attempt, "Edmund Hillary's ascent of Mount Everest was a testament to human achievement, my climb of Mount Everest in my shorts will be a monument to the frivolous, decadent nature of modern society."[4]

Wim broke his previous world record by staying for 1 hour 13 minutes and 48 seconds immersed in ice at Guinness World Records 2008. The night before, he performed the act on the Today Show. Dr. Kenneth Kamler monitored the event to explain the effects of using the Tantric practice Tummo to control your body temperature. Tummo has been practiced by Yogi monks in Tibet. Wim describes his ability to withstand extreme cold temperatures as being able to turn his own thermostat up by using his brain.

Wim Hof has recently broken the ice endurance record by standing fully immersed in ice for 1 hour and 44 minutes in Tokyo, Japan in 2010.[5]

In February 2009, Wim Hof reached the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in his shorts within 2 days. It took him only another 2 days to climb down.[6]

In 2009, Wim completed a full marathon 42.195 kilometres above the polar circle in Finland in temperatures close to -20 degrees celsius. He achieved this feat dressed in nothing but shorts and sandals, and finished in 5 hours, 25 minutes. The challenge was filmed by Firecrackerfilms, who make productions for the BBC, Channel 4 and National Geographic.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

@njung'e,Hof and a few of his ilk have over time trained their bodies to endure the limits.These Chileans were having a normal day in the office and suddenly the mine caves in and there you are.Fellows who have been stuck in lifts will tell you within few minutes you break in sweat figuring out what could go wrong,now imagine 1km of rock above your head for ten weeks.Not for the weak heart.

You call 700m underground a normal day in the office?

I think you need to have something greater than yourself to believe in or look forward to like God or family to survive such events especially if you're alone, luckily the Chileans are many and can encourage each other on.

BBI will solve it

In some cases, when both wives and lovers claimed the same man, everyone involved had to face the consequences.

All is well that ends well.Some engineering feat it was,the welfare of miners especially their working conditions should be looked into.

A notable thing is how the Chilean president has been involved in this rescue. Been wondering if Baks and RAO would do that... Oh but its such an encouraging story!
....above all, to stand.

Hope this will lead to a stop of those silly TV programmes called survivor.This was real survival.

apparently they have a pact not to disclose what went on for the 17 days before they were discovered...at least they came out all of them...I remember about an expedition to the arctic by a group of explorers in which they got lost...they were found minus one of them and they couldn't properly account for his disappearance leading to speculations of what happened.
