As for me, I have held Unga for a while now and I am indeed a long term shareholder in the counter. My main reason for buying it was its heavy discount on a Price to Book Value basis and its low PE for the last 3 years. I tend to buy when there is no interest on the counter so my average price is actually below 10. I thought this would finally be the year when my patience would be rewarded but alas.

The EPS growth was less than expected so price did not get to where I think it could potentially go - in the high teens to low 20s. At least there was a dividend payout, which is a good start. I will patiently wait for it to fall and then continue accumulating.

I am guessing it will not fall much below the current price while still cum-div. So, I will probably buy it ex-div unless it does indeed fall to say 11. I am betting we will once again see a price of 14-15 by February 2011. That is a return that I can live with.

VVS- looks like your short-trade has turned into a longterm investment
I don't speculate coz I am not good at it! If you check my prior posts... I bought it for the low P/B... I did expect a higher EPS so that is disappointing... I wanna read the Annual Report to see what they say...

BTW, duty on wheat & maize has been dropped to 10% which is good news for millers...

Didn't I say this was one strange counter? Expect strange things to happen to it in the next 1 year.

I bet this is an across the books sale. This happens when you wish to move the price up/down. It's reasonably easy for a well heeled shareholder to do this at Unga. 100,000 shares is just a shade over 1.4 million. I am wondering when the share will get to my buying level if ever - below Kshs 11.

@Jamani. In this business, I have learnt not to say NEVER, but I would place the price of 16 on Unga before the end of 2010 in the realm of highly unlikely. Keep on hoping!
