It is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). There are more than 40 HPV types that can infect the genital areas of males and females. These HPV types can also infect the mouth and throat. Most people who become infected with HPV do not even know they have it.

So go for check up. Both men and women!

just reminded me of a certain discussion we had with our Biology teacher more than 13 years ago to which she said "it is a very naughty affair how Herpes, a disease of the bucal cavity ended up in the genital areas"

What are the symptoms? Am not prepared to go display my things for the doctor to check whether i have it.

Offcourse i'll go if there are some signs.

Magigi there was this doctor who said that just coming into contact with the genital areas also exposes you and even if you use a CD their is still some chance of getting it.
The only way to avoid it is to go for a vaccination.

Most people with HPV do not develop symptoms or health problems from it. At times inside the vagina may experience bleeding following sexual intercourse or an abnormal vaginal discharge.
The vaccination cost around 8,000/- per dose. Children from age 9 and above are recommended to take this vaccine. Around 2,000 women due per year die to this disease.

They transmit the virus. It is important for the young boys who are sexually active to be vaccinated so that they do not transmit it.
