Honestly... I am totally CONFUSED...

Check the stories:

Business Daily on 7th Oct 2010: http://www.businessdaily.../-/ilpw97z/-/index.html

Business Daily on 8th Oct 2010: http://www.businessdaily...8/-/qfpbi1/-/index.html

Aren't these 2 stories contradictory???

I don't give much credence to the business reporting in Kenya but I jumped the gun here! I will wait for KK's take on this...

The two stories are just different and not contradictory because the judges who made the two decisions are also different

Neither do I know what you are talking about... Please read both stories again... If the judges being referred to are different [as concerns the specific ruling & appeal] please show me where it says so...

From what I read in the Nation which make more sense KPC has an appeal in the High Court against the arbitration award. KK then made an application for the appeal to be dismissed. That application was itself refused/dismissed. They then made a second application again to dismiss the appeal. That second application is the latest one and was dismissed by the second Judge for res judicata. Which means that KPC's appeal is still live and shall be heard.

@Elder - Could be. It's just the stories had the Judge # 2 (sitati) 'agree' with KK in the 1st story... [Headline: Pipeline loses bid to contest Sh4.6b award to KenolKobil ]... then 'disagree' with KK in the 2nd story... [Headline: KPC gets go-ahead to contest Sh4.6 billion Kenol award ]...

Sad! No compensation! Now I hope all that dramma did not erode profits since there was nothing (financially) gained from all this.
I think the only advantage here is... now the stock looks poised to rush up as it has no dark cloud hanging over it. Interesting market we play here fellows.

I preferred the lawsuits!!! Coz I was confident that KK would have won against KPRL but it seems that MoE has pressured KK into settling with KPRL...

I wonder what is going to happen with the KPC dispute...

Huge trades in KK after the announcement that it has settled with KPRL... Remember KK does not have to pay the KShs 600mn KPRL was claiming though it will 'lose' the KShs 4bn that it was claiming from KPRL...
