the car will be going for kido 3M in US which is a good premium compared to hybrid vehicles in the market.

Demand for these cars goes up....
Power generation increases...
By how much will the electricity bill be affected?

but i'm almost certain it will be cheaper than using mafuta

@guka.....I wish that will actually happen, but I am 100% that it will not happen!!

I do not mean the Launch, no sir. The launch will take place but production will not!!

Reason....the oil and pharmaceutical industries are the richest / most lucrative and anyone (company or individual) who makes any invention that threatens profits in those two industries has to be made to tow the lines.....and there are many ways to achieve that by the crooks in those two industries!!!

Just imagine trying to get the likes of Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld, Emirs of Kuwait and Qatar, Saudi Royal family, Abramovic, etc etc out of business!! That is unfathomable, unless of course the new profitable business somehow becomes theirs.

So @guka...we are a long long way!

And also motor vehicles combined consume less fuel than the industrial plants....so the Arab is still safe.

Their biggest headache so far is BIO-FUELS
When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

Waht if you decided to venture out of town and go to, say Nakuru, after you clock the 160KM? Will the car stop instantly?

Why does it have a range per charge? I'm assuming it will have an alternator that will keep charging the battery so long as the engine is running??

@Kingfisher,
I beg to disagree.If my memory serves me right,one of Obama's election pledge was to find a greener way of motoring and running industries.This is probably why American motor firms are at the forefront of EVs (Chev have the Volt but it's more expensive than the LEAF).Secondly,you can't dismiss the amount of fuel consumed by cars on our roads as inconsequential to production (Currently stands at 35BCM per year and rising at 0.7%).If EVs take a tenth of that,then that is serious business and a threat too.Thirdly,LEAF is a creature of Nissan and Renault and backed by EU and US governments (True,the conglomerate is to benefit from a grant of 20M USD for further innovations).We all know those are not Jua kali workshops.Factor in a tax credit of close to 10K USD in some states such as Carlifornia and by now you will be sure the Arabs can only do one right thing....lol.

the failure by billion-dollar car makers to develop an electric car for the mass market is one of the biggest conspiracies of this generation. a great idea by nissan but i do not expect it to push other manufacturers in the same direction. at least until oil reserves are almost depleted.

Big Oil rules the world.
