@Conos and @Winston..........I beg to differ. 3Points against small teams and 3points against your title rival are not the same.
Assume that with one match to go before the end of the season Chelsea is 2points ahead of The Mighty Man-U. Then the very last game of the season pits Man-U against Chelsea. If Man-U wins that match, they will take the title by one point. Get it?
Consider a different scenario. Assume both teams have same number of points but chelsea have a better goal difference of plus one. In the final match, if say Man-U beat Chelsea by 2 clear goals, Man U takes the title.
I have given these two scenarios and assumed the final match of the season to make my point clearer. Otherwise the effects of the matches at whatever stage of the season is the same in as far as the eventual title winner is concerned.
To win the league, you gain a lot of advantage when you hit your rival. Of coz morale boosting and bragging rights also come into the scene.
