I once went to Kenya Cinema on a loose Friday evening. Nilishangaa sana. I was ALONE! I watched the low quality movie alone for about 45 minutes when someone else joined me in the hall. Needless to say, sijawahi kanyaga huko tena.

I do Silver Bird now, though it's been a minute. It's too expensive for a movie you're chancing! You only go there for movies that you know 100% will blow you away. During the days of 20th Century movies for 200bob, we would go for random movies. Sikuhizi... too much.

....some movie theatres like Cameo even had rats !!!! ABC Cinema used to specialize in Kungfu Movies and was extremely popular...

Eastlands Cinema, Embassy, Cameo, Odeon, Globe and others have all been converted to places of worship. This tells you where the true business opportunity is - start a church.

@annsal

Am not sure how one 'shades some light' (and its popular with the young generation)...... my late primary school teacher (RIP), though he didn't proceed with his colonial schooling beyond class 8, always insisted on 'shed some light'.... and i think he was right..... unless those who went to post colonial college think otherwise... Though i also appreciate languages evolve...

And she put on such a very heavy Russian jacket that my browsing didn't get to anything worth mentioning here.
I was kept browsing the the jacket the whole 2 hours!
The only sweet memory of her I still hold is her name; Judymylce A
