I have become a lazy investor. Wazua has become my first port of call when I do my research. (I dont know if it is a good or bad thing) That said I have come up with a biased strategy to tone down the noises from dick and harry.

1) I rank contributors on their specialities eg VVS -KK, KQ (VVS main source info on KQ), EABL etc, stocksmaster whatever he says he has researched, Kularaha anything IT, Banks, Telcos, Njunge MSC etc etc So advice or opinion from the above is ranked highly on the particular topics etc

2) I rank contributors on a consistency rate. So the above are consistent lakini kuna watu wengine ...q.....w...

3) I compare advice given by contributors to what I know from my research and then rank the usefulness and uselessness of the advice and by extension the contributor.

That is my strategy. So how do you clear the noise from the useful information. There is a lot of noise which is making it hard to get the useful information from the site.

Dear Wazua Admin,
I would like to suggest a ranking system that is more specific than your elder, member newbie system. Wazua member can rank contributors on a scale of 10 and the average mean should be displayed below his name. That would be more useful to your elder newbie system.
If not that you should attempt to rank information according to content and not the number of times people contribute it because that is just encouraging hecklers.

I have to say... @Stocksmaster... He is #1 on the Fantasy Market. The gap is growing despite my best efforts to catch up!

Even his real portfolio is very impressive... almost 100% in 9 months!

That is very impressive but I was looking at the performance calculator in the investment tabs. From the fateful day in january when stocksmaster started dabbling in "short term trading" there are 3 stocks that have had stellar performance to date and have had over 100% growth.
Scangroup - 142% growth
Kakuzi - 138%
Eaagads - 128%
Cfcstanbic - 94%
cooperative - 89%

Well The top 3 are a surprise that has forced me to rethink my research strategy. Wazua has now become the main source of my knowledge it is surprising that the top 3 stocks were no where in the noisy wazua radar. Why??

That said Wazua still has a lot of useful resources and the fantasy market is useful in judging contributors too and to try new methods of investing.

ScanGroup - I do not know what to say! I sold mine off much earlier at much lower prices!

Kakuzi - I was & remain a fan. Also of Williamson Tea & Kapchorua. Huge growth in profits in 2009 & I expect similar profits in 2010. I have all 3 in my real portfolio.

Eaagads - A surprise! Coffee prices are very high BUT I think the takeover from Socfinaf by a Waguthu Holdings might be the main reason... I see houses here in a few years!

There is talk that the new constitution enabled land policy is likely to see bulk of these companies offload large tracts of land..which hitherto have been valued at cost since they were purchased?..hence the reason likes of Aly Khan are hangin on on them..

..could this be so?

I have always disregarded Agricultural stocks. Info is always scare and hard to come by. I never understand how they determine the fair value of "biological assets" and whether they are overpriced or underpriced ( I always imagine them pulling an olympia on me). Lets us not discuss weather.

But there are a lot of things going in their favour such a increases prices of food stuff worldwide from tea to wheat to fruits etc!

That said I have gotten new goggles and will be looking into agricultural carefully.

So how do you stem all the noise from this forum??

Thanks. My inner voice is very stupid it would make me fail exams by choosing the wrong answers in multiple choice questions. I think it was intentionally trying to sabotage me!! That said i stopped listening to it a while ago. smile
And Mr gut feeling he is even worse. All he did for me was give me shitty [sic] advice. d'oh!

mmmh scangroup, i saw it coming but not so fast and not so far. Kakuzi, cfc and co-op were well discussed and i admit i made some tidy sums here. Eaagads nah i dont look at the AIM, too risky for me, i would miss it if it were to do another rally tomorrow. Btw these are the stocks that have done the "bolt" rally. There are those that have been doing the "tortoise" rally since march 2009 when stocks bottomed out. At the end of the day those who entered eabl (110), nmg(112), bat(130), arm(72), eqty(10.4) etc will be happy.
Life is short. Live passionately.

Also much easier to bail out of the others vs Agriculturals...

Since I am happy owning for a few years... I am OK with illiquidity coz I will be rewarded...

Thats the reason i own jubilee.... Its illiquidity and high price are making the market undervalue the counter but i know i will reap....

Meanwhile i'm also fighting for a long term buy in kakuzi but my broker seems to have other ideas....

I LOVE kapchoruas price right now but if only it was in the main segment....
