Three points on this:

1] If you have municipal water in your house, drink it straight from the {direct} tap to the glass. That is the cheapest safe water you can get. If [like me] you don't like the taste, buy a water filter and filter away the remnant micro-sediments. Bottled water is a big con game!

2] Not all bottled water is mineral water. Most of it [including Dasani] is filtered water. In Kenya, I only know of one brand that is mineral water - Keringet. Mineral water is NOT filtered at all; neither is it treated in any way. It is bottled at the source of the spring.

3] I forgot the third point!!!!

@VVS....me too gava is the last institution i will trust....probably they refused to bribe...which may not be easy esp. if they are used to!

I would like to hereby clarify some issues for everyone, please note I work for Keringet.

Firstly - The bottle in question was back in June, and it was an isolated case. In accordance with our batch number reference all our lab results which included internal tests, SGS and NAS tests gave this batch a full compliance before it was even dispatched from the warehouse. We obviously would not give in to the fact this bottle in question was even ours as there wasn't even a receipt of purchase. From here you can imagine what became of the issue as it appeared in the paper yesterday. We only wish that the press in this country would first get both sides of the story before just printing stories for the sake of creating reading material. We were not aware of any verbal agreement as we never got any official letter, in fact we got a copy of the letter the night before the press article from a distributor, still nothing from the official governing body.

Secondly - I am a Muhindi from UK! please note we employ over 385 employees of which about 20 are Muhindis, this accounts for about 5% of the company. The 3rd highest paid person in the company is a Kenyan (African) because the top 2 are Directors. Our HR Manager is also a Kenyan and we enforce an equality policy for all. Our Marketing Manager is a Kenyan, our soon to arrive National Sales Manager is a Kenyan, our Quality Control Manager is a kenyan as is our Production Manager and Fleet Manager!!!!! we have had both Indians and Kenyans steal from us but we continue to employ both and empower both, this is the only way that companies in Kenya will grow.

Unfortunately in Kenya we and may manufacturers are faced with Counterfeiting and sabotage. Companies like Eveready and Haco have faced this battle for many years. we are part of a counterfeit committee with KEBS and despite them trying very hard to fight the battle with us, it seems that we shall never be able to win.

We have even stopped informal companies that were actually bottling identical products as us, then when there is an issue people point fingers at the legal entity! A few months we had a similar case whereby internal staff themselves were tampering with the product, we got CID involved and managed to break up the ring.

In regards to the cases that do arise, note that we are able to identify clearly whether the item inside the bottle does belong to us or not because of the composition analysis we carry out before the products are dispatched from the warehouse.

it is very important for consumers to check the sleeves of bottles and caps carefully before they consume ANY product whether it be water or not, this goes for food items as well.
