Today we averaged 20 and there is still huge demand. Like someone said a while ago, 26% return is a possibility. Upward correction for KCB is imminent

guru, I think many NSE investors don't really follow up on a company's activities. They usually wait for the announcement of results. I believe that is why you don't see rallies in some counters even after great news.If it remains stagnant then it should be an opportunity to load up more. (maybe from Unga if all doesn't go wellSad)

@YCSUK

I don't know if many investors share the same situation with me. When KCB rights were done, I marshaled all cash I could get so that I could get maximum rights although I was only guaranteed 10,000 after buying the premium rights.

Serena comes along and I have no cash. Never thought there would be untaken rights in Serena. However, those who pumped their cash in KCB and or Serena had another challenge, SCBK rights. Now, we have 5billion HFCK bond. Add the total and you see where local money is being channeled in the last four months or so. When the dust settles, KCB will easily glide to 25 shillings, swing abit with kina Equity, HFCK, & ICDC in price range before settling at 20 something. By end of next year, KCB will be above 30 shillings Kenya money.

@Surealligator, I similarly considered buying KCB shares cum-rights in order to get the rights. I however decided against this, given the size of the offer and sentiments expressed by many.

Instead, I applied for many more rights than I was entitled to. Hence my average price is just a shade above Kshs 17.

@obiero why do you say only @pkoli....

@pkoli was entitled to rights meaning he bought the share at cum rights when it was trading at above 21 if he averaged down with the rights he's average buy is about 19.75....

I got in ex rights at 18.10-18.50 so i guess i'm in a better position than he is

Huyu obiero amelalia sana, I also got in at between 17.75 and 19.

Sadly the price is not staying depressed long enough for me to mobilise more funds.

I would commit 40% of my portifolio to KCB sub-20 without blinking.

3bob is good for some profit lock up,am assuming if you have 50,000 shares acquired by rights and you didnt pay brockrage commision,150k for a month or 2 isnt bad.we might see some stagnation if guys think like me.

@VVS. I like your idea of leverage. I admit it is risky but there are times when you have a compelling investment case. However, most banks insist on freezing your shares if you use them as collateral. This reduces flexibility big time.

Do you or does anyone else here know of any bank that has a more flexible arrangement?

@mlennyma, a classic investment blunder is to sell rising counters too early. I have made these blunders too many times in the past that I have lost count. I am a lot more patient these days.

@20, KCB still presents compelling value by any metric. Remember, prior to the rights announcement, it was trading comfortably at 23. Sure there may be some profit taking, but WHEN the 3rd qtr shows some nice trajectory in growth, this price will continue going up. KCB moves quite slowly, but we shall surely get to the 23-25 level by early next year, if not earlier.

Yes, but I negotiated the 'flexibility' thanks to a very cooperative & understanding Relationship Manager... Now promoted to Branch Manager...

If you get a rigid dunderhead then you are screwed...!

The Bank I has a great custodial department as well... They do charge me an annual fee + transaction fee...

Thanks Obiero. Luckily I never followed people's advise. I have a huge chunk averaging 17.5 and so I am not complaining. Like they say in the stock market do not always follow the crowd. I did not at this time. I did not follow the crowd when buying CFC and similarly CIC. On these no regrets.

@VVS, This sounds like I & M, which I however know insists on liens. Otherwise their custodial dept is great.

Hey, that is a risk that I am willing to take. The stock market is risky after all - That's why returns are generally higher than other investment classes.

I will continue to hold out for a better price until my price target is reached - at least Kshs 23! I would only consider bolting before then, if the assumptions on which I based my purchase are breached.

At 23, that will be good returns within such a short duration. I think it will most likely trade at the same price as equity (around 26 bob).

Anyone- Is this share still a good buy at the current price or would one agree that a buy below 22 is still agood buy.I have always compared KCB to equity which almost simillar "fundamentals".I this we can see this share get to the same trading levels as equity.

If I had money I would still accumulate. The potential for upsurge is huge. As we move towards the 3rd quarter reporting, there is quite some repositioning. End year results should be sweet with nice dividends
