Why does everyone seem to hate this car? I would like to buy one coz they are quite affordable but I'm being discouraged by three people. What does SK have to say about this cute vehicle?

Most B15 are not efi and their consumption and maintainance cost is high .

@Selah,you probably meant B12 or B13. Clarify that,dont mis-advise pple,intentionally or otherwise.

In Japan, nissan and toyota are the same thing, pple dont even know the difference. In Kenya, everyone will favor TOYOTA.

IMHO,the nissan B15 is a mature car. Not really that hardy, but will do for any kind of running around. Parts may not be as easily available as TOYOTA,but it doesn't really break down that often. A B15 can be had at 520K,an NZE at 700K and more - 180K can fuel and service the nissan close to 18months!

Re-sale may not be as good right now,but will improve with time. Note the number of these B15s in increasing as pple get over the TOYO cult!

B15 isnt bad,esp the prices. U wil get a very clean one below 350k,even a kaz. Thats the beauty of items that lose their monetary value fast. Go 4it,bt keaful with the price.

Can silence be misquoted?

fyi,b15 is a very recent model and therefore has to have efi as well as some form of engine management system. nissan calls its technology electronic gasoline injection-EGI with NEO which is equivalent to toyota's vvt-i. thererfore on that note the b15 is on the same platform as the toyota nze's with similar fuel consumption rates for same size engines. The main issue with b15 is the build quality especially with the suspension but with the savings you realize after buyin you can sort that out. nissan's also tend to start overheating their engines after a while - maybe due to having unsuitable cooling systems for the tropics. But the biggest problem is with the perception that people have as regards nissan and thus your car loses its value so fast.

I thought they use twin cam engine(not sure). The engines require a particular type of oil to run well. They have a substandard timing chain which regulary breaks requiring new engine, they are also guzzlers and cant compare with NZE in fuel economy.Other than that they are quite fine cars especially the blue bird sylphy.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

To me the nissan sunny is a good car. FB15 being the most common in kenya due to cost. Performance is great. Its only that people in kenya dont do service at the right time and use low grade oil,and bushes. Two common FB15 problems. Other nissan grades like N16 or sylphy 1.8 have been prooved to be better than most NZE.

I have had a super salon B15 for the last one year. I wouldn't trade it for any toyo of it's class. It has more interior accessories and space than a 110. I haven't changed any parts yet and it's consumption is ok though depends on your driving habits.
To me resale value argument is crap. A 110 then was abt 680 and. B15 580. They both loose abt 150 but the intial cost of toyo is high coz of perception.
The parts are available and reliable.
You can check out on the web the new ECO technology it has for enhanced fuel economy.

@jaribu did you ever get your B15?

I am a happy owner of a 2001 FB15. Consumption is very good. No major or significant breakdown other than changing parts which get worn out with time.

If still buying do't go for the 1300cc B15 but go for the 1500cc FB15.
The load is the same so the extra 200cc will be good to pull that weight giving you less fuel consumption.

As @dexco wrote, service at the right time, don't buy cheap oils and cheap parts.
