But they ignored to mention anything about the balance sheet restructuring. Nevertheless good numbers.

Saw the results @VVS, 15% increase in net profit and 4.8% increase in Operating Profit. DPS of 8.00 and EPS 46.97

Okay am in awe of gurus, but don't know why I just don't FEEL this share? Is that the problem, I'm trading with my heart or limited faculties just like some people don't get tech or airlines?

Should you buy a company even if you don't feel it? I mean, when I wake up at night, I don't get excited about power generation.

That is OK but please turn on the lights when you wake up in the middle of the night... [And pay your bills promptly]

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly touché

But seriously though, is it crazy to want to buy only companies that fit into your psyche? I know, I know, making a 50% return is exciting, perhaps that should override other concerns... d'oh!

I am happy with KPLC paying the 1.25bn in dividends. Heck, it should be converted to a 'normal' loan so KPLC can get a tax break! I do not want a conversion!

They are good results but not great. I am a little dissapointed to be honest, especially by the dividend. I had presumed that the increase of the interim div from Kshs 2 to 3 signalled an intention to increase the full year dividend. I had anticipated that the final dividend would be Kshs 7 to round up the figure to Kshs 10.

Same here but my gut tells me the reason was to keep a lid on anti-KPLC sentiments including COTU (strike threats) & customer/consumer backlash...

Also KPLC is going for a Rights Issue sooner than later... So why pay a higher dividend when you ask the same shareholders for money back?

IMHO, KPLC should have paid a 'small' bonus just to assuage shareholders & withheld the dividend... Or pay a Scrip Dividend

@VVS, sure that makes sense. The problem is that KPLC has not given any further details regarding the restructuring, rights issue, split etc. Exactly what are they waiting for? Or has Nyoike been too busy fighting KK, for crying out loud!!!!

It is NOT the KPLC management but the GoK who is pushing the process...

The restructuring is a Board/Shareholder issue. The results/operations are a management matter. Yes, the Board approves the release of results but the 'Capital Restructuring' needs GoK input. Yes, nyoike has been wasting our (taxpayer) time & money fighting KK...

If GoK is the main mover on this, we are in for a LONG LONG wait. GoK cannot exactly be accused of having achievd anything on schedule - "Water for all by Year 2000" come to mind?

Maybe that will turn out for the best. The longer GoK waits before conversion the higher the likelihood that the real value of the company will be realised. The degree of dilution will lessen with time.

Amen! For all I know, KPLC has not been paying (though providing for) the Preference Dividend.

The only problem is my shares see a 'depressed' price coz of the delay in the restructuring... On the other hand I am OK coz I am confident I will meet my ROI goals...

IMHO, a MINIMUM of 300/- is what I will accept for the conversion. No less. I will fight them otherwise... How? Not sure but I am open to ideas!

@VVS we might be headed back to 200bob....

The results were good but not that GREAT....

There is disappointment all over the results in terms of profits, dividends, and restructuring... All of which may very well cause a sell off....

But thats the beauty of getting in at 120bob... A fall to even 180 from here i will still be in profit plus i have a 6.6% dividend yield... I can sit put and wait for stuff to improve
