@ jagger thats how safaricom has always been at my place, at least the few times i used it, i remember getting speeds of upto 4Mbps on the download. Safaricom rules both in speeds and prices!!

@qw, I would be extremely surprised if those were out of bundle speeds. I do not even get over 1.5 Mbps on my downloads, within my bundle. I guess it is something to do with the distance/congestion etc on the BTS near my residence.

One question to you (qw). What Orange service are you using - I presume that you are on the unlimited Orange (Kshs 990 a week)? If not how cost effective do you find Orange considering that you seem to be a heavy user? How much are you spending on a monthly basis?

As for yours truly, I use both Orange and Safaricom (Safcom for speed, and Orange for cost effectiveness). I use roughly 2GB on Orange every 4 weeks (cost 2,200) and (previously) an additional 1 GB Safcom every 8 weeks (cost 2,499). Note – Safcom was only a backup. This brought my cost to roughly Kshs 3,500 per month.

I had debated about switching to the unlimited Orange offer but for the sake of redundancy I opted not to. I have now purchased the Unlimited Safcom 32Kbps offer while still keeping my Orange. I want to see how it goes and if it works well, I will probably take up the 64Kbps offer and only use Orange if Safcom is not operational.

Currently, I do not use the Internet to the extent that I would wish to and have been cutting out any frivolous use – but I still get to use about 100MB most weekdays. I would like to cap my cost at Kshs 2,000 a month without giving up the freedom of using the net as and when I want to.

What are the experience/ expectations of others?

Mwanahisa. I am on orange unlimited so i pay roughly 4 k per month. I dnt feel the pain of payin such because i use it to conduct my business.
I have never been a fan of bundles ,the very aspect i have to be constantly checkin my usage removes the fun of browsin.
I want network pap !!

qw, you have a good point there. Nonetheless, I have preferred bundles for the simple reason that whenever there's an outage, I do not pay. Take the case of Orange during the 1st half of September! If any operator can guarantee uptime and a certain minimum speed, then I would be happy with "contract" service. I am trying out the Safcom bundle since it is cheap enough for me to bail out without feeling the pinch if it turns out to be a dud.

Did anyone lose their Orange Bundles during the break down 2 weeks ago?

Have they refunded yours?

I am have great difficulty re-claiming mine.

Anyone with the MD's contacts?
