Hello investors it's a pity to note that despite the biting recession National Bank of Kenya has raised their ATM withdrawal fee by 133% (i.e. from 30/= to 70/=) effective July 20 2009. Is this extortion or a justified review of commission given that they have not added any value to the said service?

You must be talking of the new charges for withdrawing cash from PESA POINT outlets,if u r an NBK customer,not from NBK ATM's themselves.

Note that fee was increased to 70 by most banks applicable to pesapoint svcs. Adds were all over the dailies.

@Mwenza,It's 70/= at both NBK ATM and Pesapoint up from 30/= and 40/= respectively. My 2nd Acc @ a competing bank charges 30/= at the ATM and 250/= at Pesapoint,I only used that card pesapoint one day nikiwa Kakamega and ATM was down all over town. Which other bank reviewed ATM charges?

@Ji

If indeed NBK is charging 70/= on their own ATMs,then that was a steep increase. Otherwise Pesapoint increased their fees to ALL banks and thus all banks whose customers use Pesapoint had to transfer the burden to their customers. So many banks have advised their customers that the fees at Pesapoint ATMs have gone up to btwn 70-75sh........i really doubt the same applies for NBKs own ATM machines......unless they were all on Pesapoint!

@bird_man,I use the NBK ATMs most of the time and the charge is 70/= since 20/07. If in doubt counter check,for now I have considered moving out.

@ Ji

Have checked my mini statement with NBK and can confirm that the ATM withdrawal charges are still 30/= at NBK ATMs.
