@bareta,haiya! Its not lyk u wake up one day n start training on the boeing 747! Its progressive,and I can bet u will start on a piston engined kite for the PPL (I think 50 hrs),the cessna 172. With this u cant ferry passangers. 200 hrs for the CPL. ATPL is for 'waliobobea' he he!

bareta,that is the fee for basic flying!!!

You will leave there with CPL (Commercial Pilot Lisence)...200hrs. At this point you have not seen anything yet,the rest now depends on your on job training!!!!

@ragzz - the only problem with Kenya School of Flying is that they do not offer crash courses......which I think is why the ones in NYC are expensive - just ask the local Al Qaeda cell (ok now SK is going to be monitored for weeks and all member profiles scanned by the FBI...)

Anyway,first you need a PPL (which may cost up to 1.5 million Kshs or approximately 600,000,quadrillion Zimbabwe dollars or 600,001 quadrillion Zimbabwe dollars or....just add one every five minutes... ).

Then you start training for a CPL and en route to that are other courses on the aircraft and engineering stuff.

Then they take you to Angola to try out a huge 600 ton Antonov 22 Mriya (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-225) with Ukrainian ex-fighter pilot-cum-instructors-cum mercenaries. You see,they can't afford to crash Boeings or Airbuses (and since Antonov's invariably crash for no good reason anyway,if you can keep it in the air,its not because of skill,its because you WILL it to).....

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

Yo yo yo Ragzzz,Zup ma man,am a shaggo farmer(Jeez,its like they have city farmers...silly) and I think you don't know what you are talking about. If you cannot be able to find a cheap school in NeuYork,dont think about Kenya,you will be disappointed.
Cessna and Piper have contributed much to General Aviation in US. With $ 50,000 you can buy a old Cessna 172. Lessons start from $ 49.00 so I don't know what you are talking about.
The hiccups....A US citizenship strongly recommended. If you have a Green Card,FBI background history needed. If your driving License is not good,that's a problem. FAA don't play.
In Kenya those who have cash have it,those who don't,don't. So if you are not loaded,being a New Yorker doesn't help,just hassle and do it there. Its ridiculously Cheap.
Lastly if you are just a student,be careful,Uncle Sam is watching You,if you are on that cockpit.
So yo yo Ragzzzz don't sleep,fire the turboprop and remember to put the gear down and to set the flaps when landing son.
Mkulima and the cockpit stories.

@Bareta,

Dont even think of choppers here.It cost as little as 8M for basic course and its involving...We only have two shemale chopper pilots in Kenia.

I wonder what part of brain some people use.
