My prediction is coming true. I told people that Safaricom are going to expand Masaa ya Kubamba slowly by slowly till Zain break their 3 bob forever promise. Today's announcement: Masaa ya Kubamba extended to SMS. Terms and conditions apply of course :)

When will we ever see an offer from Safaricom without T & Cs?

I am not advocating for sides. I have been made aware of Safaricom's strategy by an insider and I'm showing people what Safaricom's strategy is. You can take that as useful information to predict the market, or you can call me unintelligent. Your choice.

Strategy? When a company drops prices to match their competitor's on voice but not on sms, and then 3 weeks later also drops sms prices, does that come across as a winning strategy or serious damage control?

definitely damage control and in panic mode.

its a mystery how one can play an advocate for a corporation that has no qualms in making people pay through their noses.

In business world, brains encounter brains and strategies encounter strategies. The difference is who has better brains and strategies. This is what safcm and pain are currently enganged on. Only time will tell whos smatter.
By laws of nature, for every action theres a reaction and sometimes the reaction force completely outwits action force.

Hmmmn, clear hostility towards @Kenyalyrics observations - unnecessary in my view.

The die has been cast, and the poker players are on the table. For different reasons, each side has some support. No need to be too excitable at each turn of cards - time tells all!

I also find it ludicrous to place too much trust in two corporate entities, each looking out for themselves first.

This masaa ya kubamba na sms is a cash cow for safaricom if they are able to sell it but its a little bit complicated look at this,The smses are bought per bundle.

20/= 100sms
10/= 20sms
5/= 5sms
and its only for safaricom to safaricom sms only.

MJ is complicating this company just like KENCELL did in the 90s I think he is walking on a very thin line.Public opinion on this company will continue to deteriorate if he keeps discriminating on the price.

I think the basic concept some people don't udnerstand is that is is in our own interests as consumers to ensure Zain survives...because if they don't, Safcon will have our little a**es for dinner and we will be eaten shamelessly.

Not to mention needing a PhD just to figure out safaricom's promotions!

To throw this share away and forget i would say.

ZAin:
1.Has unleashed Kshs 240 Million to recruit 15,000 more ZAP agents across the country.
2.Bharti Airtel is part shareholder of EASSy and Zain expects to tap from this to lower data charges.
3.Zain to launch SAT TV inside 6 months.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

The sh20 for 100sms is definately ridiculous to wanjiko mama mboga. To me,i just cant stop admiring MJs ideas-in busines the last thing u shud do is to appear desparate to your customers of which mj is playin his cards quite safely not to. Once cck cuts down the sms charges to less than sh1 ,safcom wil b safe with 0.20 (if they maintain the offer). All said n done,am waitin 4 safcom shares at sh4.50.

Not desperate at all!

18 August: "I will not lower my rates. I have to think of sharehodlers value blah blah. I will not participate in a price war. This price of 3/= is unrealistic, blah blah blah fishcake..."

24 August: Safcon lowers calling rates to 3/=

Absolutely no desperation there...
