Eastlands skyline set to change.

The Cabinet on Thursday cleared the way for the demolition of old council houses to pave the way for the construction of low-cost modern units.

The ministers in a meeting chaired by President Kibaki approved the ‘re-development’ of the old local authority estates in a move expected to provide more affordable housing units for sale and rental in various cities and towns.

...quite a good move, some of the houses are simply unhabitable..they also occupy some of the prime land in NAIROBI.

Good idea. Long overdue. But how long will it take this project to be completed? 2015?

Counties are going to relieve a lot of pressure on Nairobi, so I don't expect the investor to compute his projected cash flows based on today Nrb rents.
That aside, who remembers an egyptian investor proposing to do the same thing and running into a brick wall?

Shall miss those old Council clinics people used to visit in the 80's and early 90's.
