The proposed Marina Apartments in Mombasa will cost sh.40m a piece.

While most of us are struggling to buy a 50 x 80 plot in Kitengala for a future home, some dude out there is ready to spend 40m in purchasing an apartment which will probably be a holiday home......aaarrrrgggghhhhhhh..am getting a headache....d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

Whick Kenyan is their right mind would spend this much on an apartment. Then again, I should speak for myself.

true true...... remember the kariuki/mugo/whoever's over 100m home that was demolished the other day..... and that was not all he had... 40m might sound pretty appetizing for him and wonder why they are going so cheap.

@2cents
...where were you when people were making money. I went to Rift Valley (this place where the katiba discussions were being held) People (real Kenyans!!!) have bought houses in there which they use only once a year on not use them at all. What are you talking about? Hii nchi iko na wenyewe. Is it Oyunga Pala who said that if you have not made your first million at a certain age, forget, some men were meant to serve? It is not surprsing to find that there are only afew units remaining. The rest have gone.

You and me can only watch as real kenyans live real lives...

@magigi n wendz spot on - For some of the affluent, their pets DAILY eat way above what so many kenyans only afford, if at all,only very occasionally. Why, I had a neighbour whose dogs were fed weetabix, liver, avocados, milk, minced meat, bones, the works!

Most salaried folks in nbi get a basic salary and house allowance, kwisha. Yet there are others who's pet allowance ALONE (never mind the other allowances & their sizes) is a 6-figure digit for taking his/her cat to the vets for shining/stroking its coat, brushing its teeth, trimming of nails (manicure ama ni paw-cure?),etc. These are the cats that sneer & tema mate when they see a rat...

Some bankers in this town get salos/commissions that look like someone's mobile number - wait till you see their bonuses in excess of KShs 10-25m per yr. Mmoja yuko Stanbic!

So do u still think KShs 40m is a lot?

Anyang Nyongo - 2500X31 = Ksh77,500 for lunch only! Assume lunch is his main meal, so let us say that is 50%. His breakfast and Dinner is another 50%
In total Anyang Nyong'o ( from his own bearded mouth!!!) spends Ksh 155,000 only per month on his own meals. Those who know how many family members he has can work out how much the family spends on food alone. For that person Ksh40M is just small change.

I see absolutely nothing wrong in theresmile ,perhaps most of you shida imewakumba sana between have you ever thought how a Kibera resident thinks of 'you' when you walk in to Antonio's and squander Kshs 150 for chicken and chips at lunchtime alone instead of chapati mandondo for Kshs 15?

@Sukums spot on!There are people who walk from Kayole to CBD daily....so if you told them your lunch costs 200sh!....Its a world of relativity.

I don't think people should be stressed about some things.I personally have never thought of those 60-80M houses at Kihingo....chances are that even if God blessed me with 3 lifetimes, bado siwezi make!
Formally employed people often live their employers' dream & forget about their own.
