these things are stupidly expensive, they are of 1 gb ram none is of storage of more than 160, even some dont have a cd/dvd player. In april i saw one of them bought by a guy in K U. I just symphathysized. And yet that thing was priced at 24,000. Ha! Mercy!

@kyt.

Computing is all about choice. I agree with you that Safcom's laptops are shitty pieces of crap with little more computing power than a calculator.

HOWEVER...not all Kenyans are like we space/graphic/download/tech junkies who constantly hunker for more power. For the kawa users who need basic office functions and internet, those laptops suit them just fine.

In a perfect world, everyone would want a laptop with dual-core I7's, a gazillion GB hardrive, RAM hyperthreaded to infinity, a blueray RW...yada yada....but this is Kenya where majority of us can only afford the "stripped down" version.

Cest' la vie!
So nice that its nasty, so bangin' its busting,
So slick that its sick, so dope its disgusting!

@ chris, eish ni nini? Wacha hizo mtu wangu. I only missed by one letter! Nini? @ msoto, that why i said if it does good 4 u, then its 4 u to buy, no hard feelings, its about choice as u rightly put it.

I have to agree with @kyt on a point he raised...
I was told off (& almost beaten) by a teacher when I challenged her answer... She was WRONG yet when I pointed out the reason she was wrong... she got all angry...

@vvs, that does not mean you accuse all teachers of being know it all busybodies, there are some real decent teachers out there. And of course the school you went to also matters, but i'll let that slide for today. @kyt, last time i heard safaricom was not a manufacturer of laptops so it's kind of strange ur calling them safaricom laptops. Why don't you blame HP, Acer and the rest for making stripped-down affordable versions of laptops which would otherwise be out of reach of the majority of these stupid, poor teachers...
