Hi people,

I've been a long time admirer of the Subaru Outback and wanted an opinion on it.

What I know:

- It's more expensive than the legacy - similar pricing to the smaller SUVs (in some markets the outback is classed as a SUV)
- It has a more powerful engine than the legacy
- It has reasonable ground clearance - being an all road vehicle.
- The 2010 Edition has a diesel version that is receiving rave reviews in Australia.

What I'd like to know:
- Cost of maintenance - especially parts
- Fuel Costs - for the 2.5L Petrol H4 ( I've rough idea based on the engine size)
- General opinions

Any owners ?

The Outback is such a nice car in all dimensions. It has a higher clearance than Legacy and thus can handle all terrains. Its stable and very fast. The elgance that comes with it is unrivalled.

Currently the price of a brand new outback at Subaru Kenya stores is 3.95m .

This is the same price for a used prado from Japan with a milleage of less that 50k.

However, between this two options i would choose the Prado, i dont know why.

The 0utback 2010 is a bit spacious but more or less the same.

Either way you can buy quality used outback from subaru Kenya.

@faa you sound like a Subaru Kenya sales person :)

I'd still take the outback. Just can't afford one right now.

3.95 - does that include VAT? The KRA CRSP has it at 4.55m for the Auto.

stick to outback! you can't compare toyota and subaru never ever!!
Genuine parts are available...@Suba-tech they can even order them for you. there are good subaru specialists around so maintenance shouldn't worry you. Fuel consumption is good if you were to compare it with any other car with similar cc's.

@jamplu - thanks.
For now the fin plan doesn't allow new cars. I'm waiting to get hold of the 2008+ Outback Diesel. The reviews are excellent.
