Now kq staff want to strike unless the 'big profits' are put into their payslips. What do Kenyans not understand about well managed companies making profit for shareholder? We are doomed! Companies should announce losses to avoid problems!

What is this I hear in the news of another strike in the works? Are the KQ staff serious??
Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

what big profits? Bulk of em is paper crap! unless it's the hedging dept going on strike!!!

Less than 3% revenues end up as profits after tax!!!!

How the hell do you call this thing well managed??

I do not know if there is a strike planned BUT there are thousands of Kenyans & Africans without jobs... KQ should FIRE those who go on strike for more pay without productivity gains...

It is better for KQ to hire Liberians, Zambians, Ugandans, Ghanaians, Nigerians, Chinese, Indians, Brits, etc... since KQ is a Regional (+ international) airline... Forget the idiots who don't want to produce more...

@proverb, one of the reasons 'operating margin' keeps falling as u ALWAYS run to point out is these demands by staff. BTW operating margins for airlines say very little as they are prone to many external factors hence coping strategies like hedging, they can be .01 of revenue one time and .3 of revenue the next. Again as a well managed company grows in a competitive enviroment its revenues rise high margins will drop as its profit grow by bits, so what are we comparing kq to in this case?

Hakuna mgomo, two rival workers unions(offices) are fighting for supremacy.KQ workers were suprised to see on tv that there was a supposed plan for a strike.

If you have money ingia now when there's these jitters, October 5th......tuongee!

I said this in another thread on KQ, perfomance particularly due to the World Cup is good......very good.

Nuff said, once again.

@ Pierce, you are right about the world cup effect. My only concern is that this is a one off thing and so while it may assist to bost earnings in the short term, this will definately not recur in future. Investors therefore discount this in the pricing.

Not true. It has to do with job group evaluations. And the strike was called by a faction of the union and not the governing body itself

Been patiently waiting for an entry opportunity, which seems to be presenting itself now, as the faint hearted exit the share. Will keep my eyes fixed on KQ in the coming month to collect my due shares! Every cloud has a silver lining..
